Yvette Sonneveld

Way back in 1996, I graduated from the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden with a bachelor degree in hospitality management. Little did we know about how much of our lives would happen online at that time. 

We got an internet connection at home in 1997, and I created my first website in 1999 using Notepad and HTML study books from the library. In 2003, I was paid for creating a website for the first time and in 2004 I was paid to fix poor rankings in Google for the first time. I started using WordPress in 2007 when it took over 6 months for hard coded websites to get listed in Google and WordPress sites accomplished that in less than 24 hours.Over the years, I helped dozens of business owners create concise marketing plans, create and evolve websites, set up email marketing newsletters and campaigns, manage social media and much more. 

In 2014, I attended my first WordCamp, and helped myself get over the fear of not knowing anyone by signing up as a volunteer. This led to volunteering at several other web related conferences over the course of the following years. In 2017, I added contributing and speaking to the mix, and have gotten dozens of exciting opportunities as a result.

I am excited to be part of Team Yoast and aim to help as many people thrive at our company, the communities we serve and in tech as possible.
