About Joost de Valk

Joost de Valk

I'm a 29 year old web developer, SEO and online marketer. I started my career in several companies, ranging from enterprise hosting to online marketing agencies,  allowing me to work with several large businesses around the world, ranging from Dutch leaders as KPN and KLM to world leaders as eBay, RTL and Salesforce. Starting in July 2010 I've been working as a freelance WordPress SEO Consultant, "normal" SEO consultant and WordPress developer.

I founded CSS3.info - the biggest CSS3 resource on the web - in 2006 and sold it in 2009. Early 2010 I built Quix, which was featured in many online publications from Mashable to Lifehacker and ReadWriteWeb. I run a weekly podcast with my buddy Frederick Townes called the WordPress Podcast, in which we interview industry luminaries on how to better use WordPress and the web in general for their business.

What is it Joost does?

My combined background as a web developer, marketer and entrepreneur allow me to not only make people perform better in search engines, but also to make sure they perform better for the right terms and know how to convert those new visitors into customers. Because of that, my services consist of SEO & Online Marketing consultancy, ranging from "simple" site reviews to full on SEO projects, and building WordPress plugins. You can (and should) hire me for all of that. While I work on my own sometimes, I often tag team with Frederick and his company W3 EDGE for larger projects.

Lastly, I like speaking in public. I've spoken at dozens of industry events over the years, ranging from SES New York to WordCamp Bulgaria and a lot in between. Find out more on my speaking page.

I live in Wijchen, near Nijmegen, the Netherlands, with my wife Marieke, and our son Tycho (2006) and daughter Wende (2009). If I'm not near a computer, I'm either having fun with them, or seriously ill.
