Yoast SEO 18.1: More fixes and enhancements

Yoast SEO 18.1 is out today! This new release brings another round of bug fixes, plus a new way for us to handle the translations in our plugin — leading to a smaller plugin size for you to install. You’ll read all about the newest version of Yoast SEO in this post. As we decoupled the release of Premium from the regular version of Yoast SEO, Premium will be updated to 18.0.
What we fixed in Yoast SEO 18.1
While we’re working on some bigger developments in the background, we’re bringing you another round of fixes in this release. For instance, we fixed a bug where images inserted into our FAQ or HowTo blocks would be rendered wider than their respective container when using a Block Theme.
We’ve also worked on our Wincher rank tracking integration and improved that some more. For instance, a bug added capitalized keyphrases twice to Wincher. If you haven’t tried the rank tracking feature yet, please do so — it’s great to see if your work is paying off in the search results.
Changing the handling of translations
Yoast SEO supports many languages, and the plugin itself is translated into many more languages. We ship every translation in the plugin as JavaScript, but all those translations add to the overhead — leading to more MBs for you to download. Plus, you might download languages you don’t even need.
Starting with Yoast SEO 18.1, we’re offloading the translations to wordpress.org. Now, only the translation you need will be downloaded from wordpress.org. This will make the package a lot smaller — saving bandwidth and saving some trees in the process.
