Yoast SEO 14.0: Much faster thanks to ‘indexables’

Today is a special day. Today, a project we’ve been working on for a year sees the light of day. Yoast SEO 14.0 rewrites the playbook on how a WordPress SEO plugin can work. Thanks to an approach we call indexables, we bring you a much faster experience and a new foundation that helps us get ready for an exciting future!
Think like a search engine
SEO has always been about thinking like a search engine. Search engines want to retrieve as much information as possible, and use it to provide searchers with the best possible answers to their questions. This means we constantly have to ask ourselves; how does a search engine treat information?
Information on the web is addressable via URLs. Anything that has a URL is something that could be discovered, scraped, indexed, and shown in the search results. WordPress has posts, pages, custom post types, categories, tags, custom taxonomies, different types of archives, special pages, and maybe even more types of content. Do you think a search engine like Google cares about that? It doesn’t really. It just looks for things with a URL, that it can scrape and index.
A better information architecture for WordPress
From an SEO perspective, any type of page in WordPress is simply an indexable object. This is the basic intuition that has led to indexables. In its core, indexables is just a database table that contains metadata and URLs for all indexables on a site. The abstraction normalizes the information architecture for any type of page in WordPress and makes its metadata directly queryable. On top of that, we can now easily and economically relate different indexable objects to each other and to other things, such as links, redirects, attachments, and perhaps even schema markup.

A direct benefit of indexables: a speed boost
While all the magic happens behind the scenes, the first notable ‘feature’ of indexables is a speed boost. With all the testing we’ve done, Yoast SEO 14.0 can provide a speed boost of 5-10%. Your entire site will load faster. Of course, this depends on various elements, like the type of site, the number of plugins installed, the hosting provider et cetera. This kind of speed boost is not only good for you, your visitors and your site in general, but also for search engines. Search engines have been advocating faster sites for a while now and with Yoast SEO 14.0 we can help you speed up your site as well.

A new architecture ready for new features
One of the main benefits of indexables is what we can build on top of it. Rethinking Yoast SEO with indexables in mind, helped us build a new information architecture that will allow us to add and expand sitewide SEO features. The architecture makes our code easier to maintain and improve, while also helping us build new and complex features more quickly.
One of the first features built on top of indexables is our new headless WordPress API. Developers using headless WordPress installs can now generate metadata from a frontend request. Thanks to a simple metadata endpoint, developers can use the REST API to grab the data and output it wherever they want.
Improved API’s
One of the indirect benefits of this release is new outside access to data. Thanks to the new architecture, we built a set of APIs that make it easier for third-party developers to hook into Yoast SEO. For this, we introduce surfaces. A surface is an object which we explicitly expose for third party use and which we promise to keep backward compatible. Find out more about surfaces in our developer documentation.
Technical background
As we’ve rebuilt a large part of the plugin, we have ample documentation for developers to come to grips with the changes. If you hook into Yoast SEO, it’s a good idea to go over our documentation and developer blog posts to see what changed and how you can use this to your advantage. This release makes it a lot easier for developers to hook into. Of course, this also applies to our Schema.org framework. Find more information in our developer documentation for Yoast SEO 14.0.
Try it out before updating
It’s important to test plugins before you update, but since this is a really big one it might be a good idea to try it out before adding it to your site. Of course, Yoast SEO 14.0 is thoroughly tested, but since we can’t test every set up out there, there’s always a chance that some rare combination of factors raises an issue. In that case, use a staging environment to test your plugins on a copy of your site.
For developers and testers, we made our internal Yoast SEO Test Helper available as a plugin. This can help you test our plugins on your staging environment.
Yoast SEO 14.0: The Indexables release
Yoast SEO 14.0 is out of this world. We’ve rebuilt a large part of how the plugin gets its data, which helped us to make it faster and to help your site load faster. This innovative way of handling data inside WordPress helps us — and you — get ready for a very exciting future!
Version 14 has basically made our site unusable where the MySQL db gets absolutely hammered. We’ve got 34 000 posts and since the update, we’ve had huge problems. I really want to use Yoast but i cant have my site down because of it.
We’re sorry about that, David. Tomorrow, we’ll release Yoast SEO 14.1 and this release comes with a number of fixes. This should improve the stability of the plugin.
Hello i’m willing to upgrade from v12 to newly update v14 but since i come accrose below bad comments… I think i will just go for v13 for now.
Hi Aliyu. Haven’t updated yet? After tomorrow, you’re free to update to Yoast SEO 14.1. This release comes with a number of fixes and improvements to the indexables release.
I upgraded the plugin to 14.0, but did not yet select the option “Click here to speed up your site now”.
My concerns are:
1) What information will then be stored externally by Yoast on their server? Or in a separate file within my Godaddy hosting account?
2) Do you modify any of my exising files (e.g., htaccess or WordPress files)?
3) If I ever get rid of the plugin, what will happen to the SEO and all the externally stored information if any?
4) A year or two ago, it seemed like a Yoast update got rid of all the past posts’ meta descriptions. Are there any such surprises this time around? And why did it happen in the past out of curiosity?
5) Someone mentioned that their images were created as 1000 separate pages after the new update, and Google penalized their site. I am using the free version of Yoast. Have you added any new pages to sites after this latest version 14.0 upgrade? It seems like there is a default setting option that has to be changed to prevent new image only page creation? But I am not sure if that is true for the free version of Yoast that I am using.
Thank you, in case you answer all 5 questions!
Hi Jay. As I see it, your concerns are not related to the indexables. Indexables help us to do cool stuff, now and in the future, which will benefit you as well. For this, we need to index your pages and we put all that data in a single table in your database. That’s all it is really. We’re not sending data to our server to be processed or anything like that. We don’t modify or change anything without your consent. The last two things you mentioned were bugs. Unfortunate bugs, but they were resolved quickly. As of 14.1, most of the bugs related to the 14.0 release should have been handled. That last question has to do with attachment URLs generated by WordPress. If you change a setting in Yoast SEO, you might get these indexed by Google. Here’s more on that setting: https://yoast.com/help/redirect-image-attachment-urls/
Ok, so everybody have issues with the news updates 14+. I tried the 14.1 (and 14.2) by myself, a disaster too, my admin interface was so slow…. and impossible to end the new indexation.
I’ve immediately rolled back on 13.5. My question is : If I stay in this version now, what will happens later ?
I’m seriously thinking about switching SEO plug-in, all this is very annoying. My website make 3M PV / months, I’m very worried.
Any opinion on this ?
Hi Julien,
I understand this is worrisome if it doesn’t work. You tried 14.0.1 I assume, not 14.1, as that’s not out yet. 14.0.4 really has fixed it for most people and 14.1 is due soon with more fixes. I understand this is painful and we’re sorry about that. At the same time this will make sites faster, really!
This break Facebook’s link share after click speed up site! how to undo it?
I confirm this by deactivate plugins and all goes well.
Hey… After reading some comments here and there, I’ve been careful before doing the upgrade on my live websites. I did the upgrade locally and I noticed a few differences:
– on localhost, is it normal that all pages have in the head? I never looked at that before so I’m not sure if you do that automatically on localhost… (in my reading settings “search engine visibility” is not turned off)
– the isn’t there as well
– I use polylang WP plugin… and with yoast 13.5 on my live website I have in the head for french blogposts… but somehow on localhost I don’t have it anymore.
– The tags and disappeared as well
– disappeared as well
– twitter title, description and image have disappeared
Is that all normal????
I don’t know why but I still am not able to totally figure out this plugin
Sorry to hear that! Do you have a specific question about the recent update? Or are you new to our plugin? If that’s the case, I recommend reading this article: https://yoast.com/what-does-yoast-seo-do/ or having a browse in our help center to get a feeling of our plugin and the possibilities for SEO: https://yoast.com/help/
Good luck and let us know if you have a specific question!
Hello,
I pressed: Click here to speed up your site now. The update seemed to be going fine, but before it was able to finish I accidentally clicked off the window (outside of the modal, on the overlay) and it closed the update window before it finished I believe. It did give me another popup saying something like process is finished, but I am not sure that is the case. Is there any way to check if the process actually completed as it should have and I didn’t loose any SEO data from my site?
Would there be some analytics or any kind of tracking involved once this “indexables” feature is activated?
You did something like it’s almost an obligation to have my pages “optimized”. It’s annoying because the thing doesn’t disappear unless I enable it. Also, this feature is caching the breadcrumbs link. After migrating from ‘localhost’ to the original domain the breadcrumbs links still have ‘localhost’ string in it. No matter what I do, purge the cache, the transients, nothing works. WP-CLI search-replace command also does not work. This kind of feature which involves page speed optimization is thin. In my opinion, you shouldn’t bring this kind of thing to your plugin since almost every update you do comes with a new bug. Also, how many plugins are there which are specific for optimizing pages, etc? Going with Rank Math!
after update new version website traffic 80% dropped . how to disable Speeding up your site from tools .
Hi! I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing a traffic drop! If you can’t pinpoint a specific technical fault, then chances are it might be a coincidence, as search is always evolving – due to changes to the algorithm (Google did a big algorithm update this week), keyword intent changing, competition, etc. You can keep an eye on how things progress and check for technical problems just to be sure.
After this update I seem to have static structured data markup, which is now causing Google to index incorrect product prices and disapprove products due to the discrepancy!
Hi Collin. Sorry to hear that. Are you running the latest version of Yoast SEO? And are you running WooCommerce?
Hi!
First of all, thank you for your hard work, I really like the Yoast plugin. And I appreciate this new activity, but I am afraid the complete lack of any explanation whatsoever and any warning about the potential risks is a mistake.
Most of the ordinary users will click the “Speed up your site now” button without thinking (and possibly break their site) or will be too scared because they do not know what will happen. After googling a bit I arrived at this article, but I still don’t know what this button really does or if it can possibly clash with some of other optimizing techniques/plugins.
I tried pushing the button on the development version of my site. The mention of “indexables/indexing” and the progress bar with big numbers while my site has only a few pages got me worried a bit because I got the impression that my development version of the website was being indexed in Google (and thus creating duplicities with the live website). Please add an explanation or a link to it – like with the other features of Yoast SEO – they are always well explained in the tooltip/help.
Thank you!
Hi Vít. Thanks for using our plugin. We agree with your assessment and have already planned an update that makes that message more clear to the users.
Hi,
I updated Yoast to the latest version an now my css seems to be mixed up.
Before the update I had this in my sourcecode:
Now I’m seeing “articleSection”:”Existenzgr\u00fcndung” and no meta property for the article:section any more.
How can I resolve this?
Best regards
Heike
I updates to version 14.0.4 last day and within couple of hours I started seeing 50% traffic drop. Could there be Any particular reason?
I use Yoast Premium on mg site.
Hi Dhvanesh, I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing lower traffic!
Is this related to the Yoast upgrade issue?
I wrote 5 posts after upgrading to Yoast 14.1 Those 5 posts are not showing up in SERP except the archive category where the post is showing up deep in the SERP results. I wrote 5 articles on another site I have which is still on 12.8, and all the posts show up where I would expect them to in SERP. I did upgrade to the newest version on the site that is not getting ranked on new posts.
Please let me know if this was caused by the update, and also if I need to do anything further besides updating which I already did.
I do have a “click to speed up this site now” box from yoast showing.
Hi,
My website traffic dropped, after updating to Version 14.0.4. Why did that happen?
Hi Zain,
Sorry to hear that your site traffic has dropped. Is there a specific technical issue you ran into after updating? If so, let us know!
If not, this could be coincidence as SEO is always evolving: changes in the algorithm (Google just did a big update a few days ago), efforts by your competition, and so on.
I suggest checking for technical issues just to be sure!
Hi,
I am looking for support for an issue that has occurred since updating the Yoast plugin to the latest and conflicts with DIVI.
The new coast plugin basically causes major issues with the DIVI builder landing and saving of any page or post updates. It causes divi to automatically open new preview window whenever a divi module is being edited.
To test the problem, I cleared and removed all caching, cleared browser and server cache, made sure that the php limits were all met etc etc.
I ran the site in a staging environment and disabled the Yoast plugin and everything works just fine…re-enable it and the problems come back.
I also tried removing and reinstalling the Yoast plugin and then rolling back the version back to v14 and the issues still persist.
We have Yoast premium and need it active on our site but we also need to edit our site without issue too!
Please can you provide some support for how to have both plugins on our site working together whilst also being able to update each without issues?
Thanks
Hi Damien. We’re sorry about the trouble we’ve caused you. As you mention you are a Premium subscriber, please contact our support team. They are more than willing to help you along.
Much faster? Come on now. My server had to turn the plugin off as it was overloading my site and crashing it with 522 errors. looking for a Yoast alternative now. Not good for businesses who get a lot of traffic and need their site to be up and working
All due respect but “businesses who get a lot of traffic and need their site to be up and working” have good hosting plans that don’t let a single (rather important) plugin crash their site ;) perhaps, start acting like a business and get a better hosting.
In maintaining multiple sites, every time I click the “Click here to speed up your site now” I get the following:
Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later.
Hi Marie. I’m sorry we’ve caused you problems. Have you updated to the latest version? If that didn’t work, could you try to reset the indexables tables and migrations by using the Yoast Test Helper plugin? Once you install and activate the relevant plugin, please go to the Tools → Yoast Test → Yoast SEO → Reset indexables tables & migrations options to reset it. You can find the plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/yoast-test-helper/
this does not work.
error: Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later.
My only question is this……..
If I update my yoast seo plugin to
40 plus Something……..
Do I have to do manual things myself.
Cause you are talking about your new way of index……the site
Or does it go life automatically……..
The fact that I use this plugin is about user friendly ness………..
And it seems those days are over
Greetings Rob
Hi Rob. I understand your concern. In this case, you don’t have to do anything if you don’t feel confident about it. The plugin will slowly gather the data needed while people are visiting your pages. The indexing button is purely there to fill that database table instantly. If you want, you can leave it alone for a while and come back to it in a couple of weeks. Good luck!
Hi,
I updated Yoast to 14.0.4 yesterday and started the index process on my dev env. After 2 hours I stopped the process that was still running and showing “Object 84410 of 1816”. I suspected it might be stuck somewhere. it might be worth noted I ran a custom flywheel install using Bedrock (from roots.io). My PHP debug log is clean.
Do you think I should try and go through with the process anyway ?
Hi Philippe. Are you running WPML or similar? That might be causing issues. These plugins haven’t updated their integration with Yoast SEO. If you do, please downgrade to Yoast SEO 13.5 and wait for the other plugins to update.
i have same issue.any solution to this?
Sorry the question may be silly. But I really don’t know how Yoast 14 will increase page loading speed. Most of the time these cache plugins have been doing very well. Did Yoast repeat that? When I tested insight or GTMetrix, I realized that the speed and scores did not change.
hello
i have update yoast to version 14
but now on my categories page i have tag index an i choose to no index this page in plugin
its ver 14 the problem or its because i have Remove the categories prefix?
Hi Jerome. I’m not sure what you mean. You installed the latest version and taxonomies went from noindex to index? Have you updated to Yoast SEO 14.0.4?
it’s right!
i go update to 14.0.4
I directly updated from v13.X to v 14.0.4. But I still get the”Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later” error. There are around 34K objects.
I read here that you want the error log. Where do I get this error log?
Hi Anand, we’re very sorry this is giving you trouble! If the plugin hasn’t been able to index your content yet, you may want to wait for the release of v14.1 next Tuesday. It’ll improve the indexation process and also includes the possibility to show debug information that gives an idea of what went wrong in the indexation process. Hope that helps!
OK – Thanks for your reply. Will wait.
have upgraded to version 14.0.4 and the indexing is still failing.
Any help would be appreciated , I am running the free version
Hi Michael. I’m sorry that the indexing doesn’t work properly on your installation. If you know your way on the server, I recommend you use our WP CLI command to index your site. We’ve written an article about that on our developer blog:
https://developer.yoast.com/blog/yoast-seo-wp-cli-index-command/
If that doesn’t work for you. Feel free to dismiss the notification. Your site will index automatically over time as your pages get visited. Then you can run the index in a couple of weeks’ time to cover the pages/objects that didn’t get any traffic.
I tried few time to index my site, but always fail: timeout, i have 36245 object. How can i solve this?
We’re so sorry this is giving you trouble!
Are you on version 14.0.4? And if not could you update to that version and see if it solves your issues?
If you are on 14.0.4, could you send us your error log (please email it to support @ yoast.com)?
I have upadated to v.14.0.4 without any issue, but my home page is missing in Google search. However pages are indexing normally.
Hi JP. That’s odd. Care to share the URL so we can take a look?
Hi, I checked it today again. Everything is OK now. I don’t know what happened in previous days.
Hello
How do I remove the Yoast Optimise Speed feature on my website, it appears to be clashing with other plugins and causing it to crash?
Hi Paul,
So sorry this is giving you trouble!
Are you on version 14.0.4? If not, can you try that version and see if it solves your issues?
And if you are on 14.0.4, could you send us your error log (please email it to support @ yoast.com)?
We upgraded from 13.5 to 14.0.4. While we have not had any errors, noticed any slowing or crashing, our sales dropped dramatically hours after the upgrade. We are trying to understand if the way google now views our site has changed in a way that has lessened our traffic or changed the way we indexed.
Hi,
Thanks for your comment. A sales drop should obviously not be the case, but is there any drop in traffic in any way? We’d be happy to think along. Could you also provide an URL? Thanks!
After updating to the new version 14.0, some pages disappear from the SERP , hence the traffic dropped, and some lost the meta description. how is that relates? ? Thanks
Hi!
We’re very sorry to hear that and any possible inconvenience caused.
Did you upgrade to the latest version of the plugin 14.0.4? Could you please share an URL of a page that disappeared from the SERP so we can have a look? Thanks!
My WordPresss site with Siteground seems to have eliminated Yoast. Is it possible to get it back?
Dave
Hi Dave,
That is odd? But if the plugin suddenly disappears, that probably means it is not related to anything we did – we’d love for you to use Yoast? Could you please check with Siteground to see what happened at what time on the server? They can probably help you out here!
Please let us know if there is anything we can do, ok?
It constantly asks me to upgrade the indexing. It does it, then it says I need to do it over and over again. Why?
Hi Jason,
We’re very sorry this is giving you trouble.
Is this happening on version 14.0.4?
The indexing will also happen automatically as people visit your site’s pages. But what you’re describing should obviously not be happening. Could you send us your error log (please email it to support @ yoast.com)?
Great article. Yoast is one of the best tools out there. Thanks
Appreciated! Thanks, Matt.
How can I upgrade my yoast seo premium from 13.5 version to 14.0 version?
Hi Nghia! Thanks for your question, this guide will take you through the steps of updating the premium plugin: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-update-my-premium-plugin/
The article is well written and informative. So far the latest update is running good on my site and i am enjoying it. Thanks
Happy to hear that, Adam. Thanks!
We let our huge website get indexed last night. All fine in the end, but then we updated the Yoast plugin to the next version with the bug fix and it’s asking us to do the whole thing over again. It took several hours the first time – are we going to have to do this every time we update your plugin?
Hi Darren! Thanks for your comment! Don’t worry, you won’t have to do this every time you update the plugin.
Hi Willemien, running this crashed our site. It took up so much CPU usage that pages weren’t available and our host asked us to disable running the Indexation. Is this a known issue and is there a way to limit the CPU usage of the indexation process? As I said our site is very big and so we can’t get this process to complete without taking the site down.
Hi Darren,
We’re sorry this is giving you trouble! Obviously this shouldn’t happen, so it would be great if you could send a detailed report of what’s happening to support @ yoast. com.
As for a way of limiting the CPU usage; Yoast SEO also indexes any pages when they get a visitor, so you could wait for a week or so, as then it’ll only need to index the pages that don’t get (much) traffic.
Or, if you know your way around the server, I recommend you use our WP CLI command to index your site. We’ve written an article about that on our developer blog:
https://developer.yoast.com/blog/yoast-seo-wp-cli-index-command/
Even with Yoast 14.04 the Yoast indexation status
is 10.000 encounting while it says that it needs to proces 8742 files….
When are you going to fix this?
Hi Simon,
We’re so sorry for the trouble this is causing.
Could you send us your error log (please email it to support @ yoast.com)?
Installed latest 14.0.4 and that pesky error still shows on the Dashboard:
Yoast SEO was unable to create the database tables required and as such will not function correctly.
Please read this help article to find out how to resolve this problem.
—-
That error only started appearing since version 14 build – any thoughts on how to fix?
Hi John,
Sorry to hear you are still having problems using the latest version. The database tables are an essential part of the functionality we’ve added.
Could you try to use the Yoast test helper plugin to re-create the indexables tables?
If that still does not work (which is possible) we recommend you to contact your hosting provider.
Same issue here. We have determined that if you had woocommerce installed and then upgraded to the faulty 14.* plugins, it has done something to the database which the ‘reset indexation’ feature of Yoast Helper cannot even help with.. i.e. it’s completely broken.
If you had the same site on woocommerce and had Yoast SEO 13.5 and went direct to 14.0.4 it would work properly.
I know this because we have two sites, all using the same themes and plugins: one of them went through every broken 14.* release and is still broken with the latest plugin and the other site which was on 13.5 has managed to jump successfully straight to 14.0.4.
Nothing to do with the hosting provider, clearly as demonstrated.
Hi John,
So sorry for the trouble!
Could you send us your error log (please email it to support @ yoast.com) for the site you’re still experiencing issues on?
Love my Yoast! Obviously takes a little time to propagate, so those that are upgrading and doing a speed test right away might want to give it 30 minutes. At first, my websites shot up to 12 seconds fully loaded and now are fluctuating from 3.8 to 4.4. I am using 14.03 and think I need to do some tweaking with my a plugin I am using to boost speed/Cloudflare, everything seems to be working properly. Also so much more traffic on the net with the virus, so I also reached out to my host and they added some bandwidth. Not sure what made the difference, you say Haulin, I say ass! Looking forward to loading times of 1.0<! GO TEAM YOAST!.
Thanks, Rod! That’s lovely to hear!
No problems with SEO Yoast 14+
The website has become much faster.
That’s great to hear, Frank! Thanks for letting us know :-)
I’m running 14.0.4. I use Beaver Builder (paid version). I noticed since upgrading to Yoast 14, I am unable to change any Saved Rows that I have within Beaver Builder – once I click ‘publish’, the row reverts back to what I had before I made changes. I too would like to roll back to 13.5, but I can’t figure out how to do that.
Hi Nick, sorry for the inconvenience!
You can download the older version on the advanced section in the plugin repo at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/advanced/ (bottom page) and replace via (S)FTP, would that work for you? Please create a backup first.
Have you notified Beaver Builder as well?
Hi Yoast team
I keep reading the comments here excited to test out yoast 14 when I feel safe enough. I think the bugs seem to be getting worked out fast so I’ll probably backup my site and then upgrade yoast this weekend.
Can’t wait for some of the features your indexables will unleash moving forwards, I’m hoping some kind of new and improved silo creation or interlinking tool comes out of it, I got the gist that this is the kind of think made a lot easier thanks to indexables.
Hi Graham,
If you have a test site, or use Local by Flywheel for instance to test, be sure to update to the latest version 14.0.4 straight away. The issues we encountered and have fixed are listed in our changelog, see https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/change-log-wordpress-seo/
I just upgraded to yoast indexable version 14.1 it very nice but I have a problem, I have about 150k pages and the indexing is taking much time, and slowing my server.. thank you..
Hi Godwin! I’m sorry to hear indexing is slowing your server. A solution could be to let it index automatically over time as your pages get visited. Then you can run the index in a couple of weeks’ time to cover the pages/objects that didn’t get any traffic.
Hi Moors and Yoast Seo, thanks, now, with the latest update (14.0.3) the control panel and login work quickly. We will read more about the function of the fast index. Thanks again and good job.
http://www.musicletter.it
Hi Musicletter,
Good to hear that the performance issues have been resolved for you.
Thanks for letting us know!
We do urge everyone to update to 14.0.4, as you otherwise might have pages in the search index that you configured not to be there.
Hello, I’m having a problem after updating to 14.0.2. After clicking the replace hyperlink in WP admin to hurry up the positioning. I exploit the Elementor professional on my web site and was including content material to the house web page earlier than I up to date the Yoast plugin. I then went to proceed to edit the positioning utilizing Elementor professional it opens up then the loader simply spins round and round and won’t open. I then went again to plugins and deactivated the Yoast plugin, went again to the Elementor dashboard to edit and it loaded tremendous no points. Tried once more to open Elementor with Yoast plugin activated and won’t load simply spins round. The brand new Yoast replace to hurry up web site is inflicting points with Elementor can this be fastened?. I’ll now need to disable Yoast to edit the positioning. I’ll be really glad if you help. Thanks
Hi Gabrial,
So sorry this caused you these issues and for the late reply!
Could you please update to 14.0.4, preferably on a test site, to see if that update fixes that issue?
If it does not, could you please send us the error log via support @ yoast.com? That would be really helpful.
Hello, I’m having a problem with my website though I did all the SEO and but the google score is a maximum 6. Sometimes it shows traffic from social media but doesn’t show traffic from google. Please help this out.
Thanks
Hi Alam! I’m sorry to hear that! This post will help you figure out what’s wrong: https://yoast.com/5-reasons-why-your-site-isnt-showing-up-on-google/ Good luck!
Running WP with gatsby yoast 12.1 works great 14.* getting this Path: /wp-json/yoast/v1/indexation/posts?per_page=100&page=1
The server response was “404 Not Found”
Inner exception message: “No route was found matching the URL and request method”
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply and sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Not sure what you mean here, could you please upgrade to the latest version 14.0.4 and let us know if the problem persists? Thanks!
I use gatsby to source WP for a headless site. Before Yoast 14* I could capture yoast meta from the API. Since your update I have had this error “Path: /wp-json/yoast/v1/indexation/posts?per_page=100&page=1
The server response was “404 Not Found”
Inner exception message: “No route was found matching the URL and request method”
When running gatsby develop/build. Your new indexation broke the API that was being used
Can i go back to the older version of Yoast before the update?. I have just done a Google speed test for mobile phone and now it is scoring 12 before the update the site was between 36 – 58. The desktop score is is ok but a lot of errors in my site health now as well.
Thanks
Hi Akritsos,
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem.
We have released a new version today, namely 14.0.3, which addresses performance problems. Please update to the latest version and see if that resolves these issues for you.
If it still give you problems, you can safely install the previous version of the plugin. We keep working on providing the best possible plugin for everybody, so we always recommend you to be on the latest version.
Hi Jip,
I did the upgrade to 14.0.3 but it still had the same issue and very very slow. I left the site for a few hours i have just logged in to the admin and a new update was showing 14.0.4.
NEW: Yoast SEO can now store your site’s SEO data in a smarter way!
Don’t worry: this won’t have to be done after each update.
I have updated the plugin and tried again but the issue with Elementor is still showing it will not load. It’s also very sluggish the same as before.
Do you know how i can reinstall the version before the speed up your site updated came in to action please. So i can get the site back to how it was thanks.
Regards
Same here. No matter how many times that I press the ‘Click here to speed up your site now’ button, the message asking me to do it never goes away.
This is all the more concerning as the message also displays:
Don’t worry: this won’t have to be done after each update.
Hi i have just updated my Yoast to Version 14.0.2 by clicking the update link in WP admin to speed up the site. I use Elementor pro on my site and was adding content to the home page before i updated the Yoart plugin. I then went to continue to edit the site using Elementor pro it opens up then the loader just spins around and around and will not open. I then went back to plugins and deactivated the Yoast plugin, went back to Elementor dashboard to edit and it loaded fine no issues. Tried again to open Elementor with Yoast plugin activated and will not load just spins around. The new Yoast update to speed up site is causing issues with Elementor can this be fixed?. I will now have to disable Yoast to edit the site. Any help would be appreciated i am not a developer or anything so clueless. Thanks
Hi Akritsos,
We’re sorry to hear you are having problems with Yoast SEO and Elementor.
We’ve not received any similar reports, so I’d like to ask you to try and provide us with some more information about the problem.
Could you use this guide to determine if you have any errors in your browser?
I can confirm that this issue is wide spread. It’s not a single case.
Would love to see you guys fix this quickly.
Hi Jip,
I have tested the browser and have no issues with chrome and edge. I have used chrome on another PC and edge to see if it made any difference, but get the same issue Elementor will not load with the Yoast plugin active. Deactivated the plugin to test on the other PC and it works put it back to active and it wont load. This is with the latest update 14.0.4.
Regards
On my pages Yoast speedup-indexing says something like “Object 142.757 of 23. 516 processed…” and never stops…
Hi Marcus,
We have released several small updates, which fix a lot of problems for various site-configurations. We believe that this problem should be fixed as well. We recommend that you update to the latest version (currently 14.0.4) and run it again.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
since I updated to version 14.0. I have experienced major slowdowns in the backand. It takes me “minutes” to view the Bulletin Board. In addition, WordPress’s Site Healt feature warns me of a loopback problem. By turning off SEO, everything goes back to the way it was.
I wanted to know how to solve this problem because many writers are no longer able to enter backand and I am forced to disable SEO. Thanks
Hi Mauro,
We’re sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem on your site.
We have been working hard to fix all the problems people have reported to us and have released a couple of versions to combat these problems.
We ask you to update to the latest version (currently 14.0.4), this should resolve the symptoms you are describing.
We have experienced the same problem. 50% of the website I managed became very slow in wp-admin after this update.
Good morning. Yoast Seo worked properly until release 13.5 demonstrating all your skill and professionalism. Now, after the last upgrade 14.0.2, access the site administration and go from one section to another on the bulletin board is really slow (long, very long waiting times, especially when you want to enter the list of plugins). Which is why we didn’t click the button again to make the index faster. We use a windows environment, the latest version of WordPress and an updated php and simple and functional features. I hope you can solve this serious problem for many millions of users, but also not to play 10 years of well-deserved professionalism. I wait and look forward to good news. Thanks.
Hello,
We’re sorry you are having problems with the performance of your site. We have received similar reports and have released a new version. Please upgrade to 14.0.3, this should resolve these performance problems.
Regarding the button, if you know your way on the server, I recommend you use our WP CLI command to index your site. We’ve written an article about that on our developer blog:
https://developer.yoast.com/blog/yoast-seo-wp-cli-index-command/
If that doesn’t work for you. Feel free to dismiss the notification. Your site will index automatically over time as your pages get visited. Then you can run the index in a couple of weeks time to cover the pages/object that didn’t get any traffic.
My site is a property portal and the update involves 436430 objects. I’m finding the system crashes before completing.
Hi Vatsal, that is a lot of objects.
Your site will index automatically over time as your property pages get visited. Then you can run the index in a couple of weeks time to cover the objects that don’t get any traffic.
Hey there,
I run the “conversion procedure” for speed up the website, and noticed the DB occupation grown a lot. I red you are mantaining metadata both on new tables and wp_postmeta, is this the reason? Will you cleanup DB (and hope reduce occupied space) once the new architecture will be the only one mantained?
THANK YOU!
Hi Sisko,
We do duplicate data into our own (newly created) tables. The fact that we both have this data in the post-meta and our tables in the reason indeed.
We like to keep the data usage to a minimum and are looking to see when and if we can remove the duplication. We are very happy that we did not clean it out directly, you can read why in the blogpost explaining the patch-releases for 14.0.
Hi there
Is there any way to safely downgrade from 14.x to 13.5 without losing anything?
I saved the website a few days ago, but if possible I’d rather not have this small rollback
Thanks
Hi Neko,
We recommend that you update to the latest version before reverting back to an older version. We’ve been working hard to solve all the problems that we encounter, if you have a specific problem, please let us know.
For steps to guide you to check for problems, see: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/
If that is not possible, you can rollback to 13.5 without losing any data.
Hi,
After update 14.0.1, I tried to launch the new index option. The process crashed near to 7000 articles on 9000….
Since then, my back-end was extremely slow (1 mn to display pages). After have updated Yoast to 14.0.2, problem seems to be solved, but it do it again now !
Back-end super slow, essentially home front-end page, extensions and updates pages and all Yoast SEO pages. I must wait 30 secondes to display this pages…
What can I do ? Thanks.
Hi Julien,
We are currently working on 14.0.3, which contains a performance fix that will probably help on your site as well. This is expected to be released today.
Please check if this solves the problems and let us know if it does.
Hi there – Version 14.0 totally crashed my blog – so I’ve had to disable it for now. When will this be fixed?
Hi Amit,
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Please update to the latest version (currently 14.0.2) to see if that resolves your problems.
We are working hard to fix any known issues. If you have any specific details about what occurred, that would be very helpful to us.
Please use the steps in this guide to provide us with more details: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/
Sorry to be a pain – but how can I update? I still have the plugin but currently deactivate (as soon as I try and activate my website will crash) and there doesn’t seem to be any auto update showing.
For any weird reason my filter rewrite for the titles is not working after the update, even having more priority than Yoast’s one.
I’m talking about pre_get_document_title and wp_title, them both does have 999 priority but for any weird reason they seems to be not working anymore, once Yoast SEO is disabled my rewrite filters come back to normal. There’s any change in Yoast SEO 14.0 regarding this?
Thank you!
Hi Surce,
We have received similar reports and have included a fix for it in Yoast SEO 14.0.3, released today. Please update to this version and let us know if it resolved the issues you are having.
This update took down our site due to indexing problems. We are still trying to fix it. I do not advise updating at this time.
Hi Jordan,
We’re sorry to hear that this caused such problems for your site.
We have released version 14.0.3, which includes various fixes and performance solutions.
We updated to 14.0.1 yesterday and the ADD NEW POST feature crashed all of our sites with this installed – giving critical database error. We then updated all of our sites to 14.0.2 today, and the Dashboard header still reads:
—–
Yoast SEO was unable to create the database tables required and as such will not function correctly.
Please read this help article to find out how to resolve this problem.
—–
It does appear that the sites are working again (ADD NEW POST doesn’t crash, for example), but this error persists. Any way to get rid of that, and are there still persistent issues with the database for this plugin?
Thanks,
Hi John,
Sorry you are having these problems.
You can use the Yoast test helper plugin to reset the indexables tables.
We are currently working hard to release the 14.0.3 version, which includes more fixes and database optimizations.
If the above solution does not solve your problem, waiting for this release is our advice.
Get this error and continuously receive emails from day before yesterday after every 5-10 minutes. Whats the solution ? Please do let me know … Error is mentioned below

Hi Syed,
Sorry to hear you are having these problems.
This specific problem has been solved by the team and will be shipped in the 14.0.3 release later today.
You could resolve this yourself by removing the plugin and installing it again. Making sure that the folder (wordpress-seo) is being removed in the process.
This would be great if it worked 100%. We have 15 sites that use Yoast – 12 with free and 3 with premium. On the 3 premium sites, nothing happens when the button is pressed and the notice won’t go away. On 5 of the free sites, the same. Please could you look into this and issue a fix as a priority? Anything involving database indexing which doesn’t work 100% or is even slightly flakey is a huge concern.
Hi Tom,
Sorry to hear that it’s not running as perfectly as we’d hoped.
Do you have any output in your browser console window that shows an error or error message? See https://yoast.com/help/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console/ for instructions on how to find them.
We are currently working hard to get 14.0.3 released, which contains a missing index and other database related solutions.
If you know your way on the server, I recommend you use our WP CLI command to index your site. We’ve written an article about that on our developer blog:
https://developer.yoast.com/blog/yoast-seo-wp-cli-index-command/
If that doesn’t work for you, don’t worry, your site will index automatically over time as your pages get visited. Then you can run the index in a couple of weeks time to cover the pages that didn’t get any traffic.
When I run the Yoast 14.0.2 indexing process on any of my 4 websites, it crushes causes MySQL CPU usage to spike to about 4 times normal levels. Do you have any recommendations for reducing the impact of this process? It looks like it’s going to take several hours even on my smallest website, and probably days on my biggest site.
Hi Paul,
The structure we’ve introduced does need some effort to be filled, so a higher usage is expected. This will be higher for bigger sites.
Your site will index automatically over time as your property pages get visited. Then you can run the index in a couple of weeks time to cover the objects that don’t get any traffic.
I had to switch off alot of updates such as AMP Plugin and WP Fastest Cache to get this speed update to install.
Hi Pinoyathletics,
Sorry to hear that it caused you some trouble to install, I hope it’s all working as expected now?
I just updated and it’s causing an error “Yoast SEO was unable to create the database tables required and as such will not function correctly.” before the update my site was working fine but now it’s showing this error! Do you guys have any update regarding this or if this is my server’s error than can you please help me to fix it?
Best Regards
Ashish Sharma
Hi Ashish,
We have released 14.0.3 in the meanwhile, which addresses several problems that were reported to us.
Please try to update to the latest version to see if that resolves the problems for you.
You can also try to use the Yoast test helper plugin to reset the database tables.
If the problem persists, please see the following documentation specifically about this problem: https://yoast.com/help/cannot-create-database-tables/
i’m using the latest plugin and it started causing issue after 14.0 update please have a look at this also https://wordpress.org/support/topic/yoast-seo-was-unable-to-create-the-database-tables-required-2/
the error is still there! please fix this ASAP
Can you clarify this bit please – “can provide a speed boost of 5-10%. Your entire site will load faster.”
As most sites use caching, how will this make “your entire site load faster”?
Hi Martin,
It would be awesome if most sites would be using good caching, but unfortunately this is not the case. As we don’t provide caching in our plugin we strive to create the best experience for the user and the server. This update will make sure the server has to do less to generate the pages that can be cached. This in turn will make your server have more resources to do other more important things quicker and sooner.
When we upgraded to 14.0.1 from 13.5, our dashboard became inaccessible. We have a large site (142000 wp_posts) (actual prefix deleted) and once wp_yoast_indexable reached 5450 records, the dashboard timed out. I was able to poke around in the database and discover that this query would not finish in several minutes:
SELECT COUNT(ID) FROM _posts WHERE ID NOT IN (SELECT object_id FROM wp_yoast_indexable WHERE object_type = ‘post’)
The live query includes another AND condition, that post_type be post, page, attachment, etc.,, but the above was what dragged the query and db to a halt. I removed Yoast (command line, I moved wordpress-seo away), but then realized creating an index on wp_yoast_indexable.object_id might solve the problem.
It did.
So now I’ve brought Yoast back, and upgraded to 14.0.2. The number of records in wp_yoast_indexable is increasing slowly, but the index is still there, so it’s performing ok. But I am hesitant to “click here to speed up your site.”
What will that do, and how long will it take? What are the chances it will cause our site to grind to a halt, as 14.0.1 did with the table lacking an object_id index?
Hi Ken,
Sorry to hear that you’ve had these problems. We are aware of these and are working hard to resolve them.
We are releasing 14.0.3 shortly, which will restore the index that you are referring to.
Your site will index automatically over time as your property pages get visited. Then you can run the index in a couple of weeks time to cover the objects that don’t get any traffic.
Hi Jip, and thank you for your reply. Is that what “click here to speed up your site” will do — add all the pages to the dv2_yoast_indexable table?
I would encourage others here having slowness to access mysql and run:
alter table wp_yoast_indexable add index object_id (object_id);
[Replace wp_ with your table prefix if different.] There’s a query that runs when the dashboard and many other admin pages load that will be much faster with this index.
Hi Ken,
Yes, that is what the button does, create the index to be able to serve the pages to the users as quickly as we can.
We have released 14.0.3 today, which includes adding the index you mention. This should be automatically be added upon installing this (or a later) version of the plugin.
Hi, I am hitting errors with 1402. I have deactivated the plugin for the moment (using the recovery link) as it stopped the site working completely – front end and back end.

Hi Joss,
Sorry to hear you are having this problem, thanks for reporting it.
We are currently working hard on the 14.0.3 patch, which will solve this problem. We expect this to be released within 12 hours.
My entire site it up to date and yet when I click on “click here to speed up your site now” I get “Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later.”
Hi Amie,
Sorry to hear you are running into these problems.
The “Something went wrong” error seems related to that as the plugin was probably unable to create all database tables it needed to make. If that is the case, you can use the Yoast test helper plugin to reset the indexables tables.
The notes to a host if the DB is not write-able make no sense. It just links back to the same post saying ti needs DB write access, whats the actual fix? Im seeing mixed results on the same hosts. Even deleting and reinstalling wont add these new tables.
Hi Niall,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with the installation.
We have simplified some core requirements in the plugin during the last couple of patches, which makes it more compatible with different server configurations.
Could you try to install the latest version (14.0.4) and see if that resolves your problems?
If you are sure you can create tables on your database, please try to use the Yoast test helper plugin to re-create the indexables tables.
Im just holding off updates staying on 13.5 for now.
Roll back is my advice here. I cant seem to find any real info on how to fix this.
On a bunch of sites the optimization worked without problems. On one site (also running 14.0.2) the error message “Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later.” keeps being displayed after repeatedly trying again. There is nothing special with the site compared to the other ones. What can I do to make it work too?
Hi Lukas,
Sorry to hear you are running into these problems.
The “Something went wrong” error seems related to that as the plugin was probably unable to create all database tables it needed to make. If that is the case, you can use the Yoast test helper plugin to reset the indexables tables.
Hi Jip,
thanks for the hint. After resetting the indexable tables with test helper I still have the same issue with this site.
Best,
Lukas
Hey Jip,
the issue is still not solved – also with 14.0.4.
What the heck?
Best,
lukas
Hi,
I have installed the 14.0.1 version and I have clicked in accelerate button in the tools menu. Everything seems ok, the screen doesn’t show any errors.
I have updated now to 14.0.2 and the button to accelerate site is enabled. I have to click it another time?
Thanks!
Hi Juan,
We have released a new version today, 14.0.3, which includes even more fixes. I recommend that you update to this version and then run the accelerate button again.
To answer your question directly, yes. We have changed internal workings that require you to run through that process again if you installed version 14.0.0 or 14.0.1.
Hi! Thanks for your question! I was the doubt because the process creates new tables and registers and I didn’t wan’t to run the process again because I was not sure if the process will recreate everything or something like that.
Thanks for your help
I also have the same problem, after updating to version 14.0.2, my site became so slow that it was inaccessible.
So I disabled the plugin while you publish a correction, which I hope will be published soon.
Hi Speedsite,
We have released 14.0.3, which tackles more problems that were reported to us. Please update to this version to see if this also includes the problem that you are experiencing on your site.
If this does not solve the problems, please use the following guide to provide us with more information to help us solve your problem: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/
After upgrading to version 14.0.2, my site started to slow down and display database errors.
By removing the plugin everything works perfectly, and when I put it back, same problem: the site slows down enormously and it is impossible to open any article (error data base).
Hi F1only,
We’re sorry to hear that you are experiencing these problems with your site.
We have been working hard on all problems that have been reported to us and have released a new version, 14.0.3, today to combat the things that we found and where able to solve.
Please update to the latest version to see if these changes solve the problems for you.
I am having this same issue. Had to deactivate the plugin from my site. I hope yoast seo team will help resolve this issue ASAP.
Same here.
This is due to the way the indexation occurs. The main SQL query uses a “not in” which is vastly inefficient, and on top of it, its result grows, making the subsequent query slower and slower.
It works (kinda) when you have 100 or 1000 objects to index. When you have above 2000, its barely usable. At 80K, its a never-ending nightmare.
Well, that broke everything… I had to enable PDO after updating to v14 its a shame as your plugin is the only thing on my sites that uses that….
Hi Jesse,
Sorry to hear you’ve had problems with this. We have removed the PDO dependency from the plugin in the 14.0.2 patch, as this was causing problems for more users.
You should be able to turn that off, after installing this (or any later version) of the plugin.
I just tested it out, at first I wasn’t sure it’ll work but it truly works wonders, my website just went from 56 to 98 on google’s page speed score, something I thought impossible so thank you for the update yoast.
Hi Daniel, That’s great to hear! Good luck with your site
Everything worked fine as far as I see, I got the message “Good job! You’ve sped up your site.”, but the “Speed up your site” message box shows up after the next backend page load, no matter how often I click the button. It only “processes 1 of 1 objects” and says Good job afterwards, but it will show up again and again…
Hello, Yoast SEO Premium 14.0.2 is still giving me error – “Yoast SEO was unable to create the database tables required and as such will not function correctly.:”
However, the free Yoast plugin 14.0.2 on my other site works fine. So why is there an issue with the paid premium version? Can you please look into this ASAP.
Thanks.
SB
Hi . I installed the latest update and now at least 30% of my images are a ? – both on my site and in my media file. What just happened?
Hi Julie,
Thank you for leaving a comment about this, we are not expecting this and have not had this reported by anyone else yet.
Could you use the following guide to give us some more details, it is very hard from the description to reproduce this problem. See: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/
Does it mean that I have to reinstall Yoast version 14.0 into my wordpress? I didn’t see any update notification from my current Yoast SEO Premium plugin. Thank you!
Hi,
If you have not installed the 14.0.2 version, it should come up as an update in your system. You can check by going to your Dashboard and using the “Updates” menu item below. Clicking on the “Check again” should fetch all latest updates.
Hi. On 14.0.2 and still get the ‘speed up your site’ option either not getting beyond 0 or, if it does, hanging within about a minute or two. Have tried probably 7-8 times on 14.0.2, trying the top version of the button and the one lower down on SEO > Tools, with the same results.
Tried different browsers, and upgraded to WP 5.4 in case that was an issue. Neither has helped. Hope you can fix this.
14.0.2 still makes a problems
14.0.2 doesn’t solve the something went wrong issue on my site. Tried turning off cache, etc. no luck
I have just updated the plugin and everything seems fine. Thanks for always seeking to improve the SEO world.
Hi, i still have Version 14.0 installed and sug´ffer the problem of a extremly slow backend. But i can´t update SEO Premium over backend. Should i simply uninstall it and reinstall from the plugin store ?
Hi Patrick,
Sorry you are having problems with the release. You are not able to install the Premium version via the plugin store, as it only available via our MyYoast portal.
We have released a new version which should fix these problems for you, namely 14.0.2.
If you are able to remove the plugin, you should be able to install it again using the package you can download from your account. This can also be installed using FTP if that is an option for you.
Checked Every Patch the Last 48 Hours. Backend still dont work and and because of That i Switched to Rankmath. Now everything is Fine AND My Webseite reacts More quickly than ever. I used Yoast for about three years but i guess it was the Right time to change …
Hi, it seems that this new update generate bug in the breadcrumbs and especially with WPML and woocomerce and multi-domains. now I have a strange breadcrumbs like that :
domain.com >> domain.co.uk/cat1 >> domain.com/cat1/product
Hey, I’ve just updated the plugin but it stil says:
Object 20308 of 9033 processed. (Encounting)
What is going wrong?
I have exactly the same issue. I updated rfom 13.* to 14.0.2. I clicked the indexation and had this problem. I filed bug report on Github.
I hope it is just something aesthetic and nothing went wrong in the database. Everything seems to be working fine…. seems.
I hope Yoast will not leave us, even though we don’t have Premium
I do have the premium version and it still won’t index so the problem isn’t at the free version.
Hi. Have you updated to the latest version? Release 14.0.2?
Yeah I did
I just installed the 14.0.2 Update but I am still getting the following error in my console:

Hi Sebastian,
Could you try to remove and reinstall the plugin?
It looks like some files are not loading as expected in your browser or on your site.
Hi I updated the extension to 14.0.1 and in some of the categories I see “There was a critical error on your site”.
Hi Yossi. Sorry for the inconvenience, this should be fixed in the latest update.
How does Yoast 14 speed up a site?
Hi Pablo,
We introduce a custom data structure, in which we collect all the information needed to output the meta-tags on your site much faster than using the method WordPress provides to do this.
Because we collect the data when you edit your pages, it does not need to be fetched when the visitor loads the page. This helps the server to serve the page much quicker than before.
I hope this answers your question!
Last update broke all the emojis of my website and replace it for ????
How can I fix it?
Hello, can you tell us around what time version 14.0.2 will fall?
Since the update of the plugin to 14.0.1, my access to the admin is incredibly slow and I have the impression that the meta description no longer works. Do you think this version 14.0.2 will remove all these problems? Thank you
Hi! The 14.0.2 update is now live.
Thank you I downloaded it and everything seems to work as before. Just one thing, I now have an additional button in the “optimize your site” tool tab in French. if i click on it, what is supposed to happen? Thank you for your work.
getting a code showing in the header of a new build after update
this is what is showing

Hi Mark. Sorry for the inconvenience. This error will be fixed in the 14.0.2 update that is due today.
Hi, Could the update 14.0.1, which I carried out this morning, be causing the issue of WP background updates not working and loopback issues, in addition to the ryte error? By the way, I have not run the speed up site option as yet.
Don´t get the pop-up “speed up your site now” after updating to 14.01 Premium subscription.
How can I do it manually ?
Hi Bart. You can manually run the index by going to SEO > Tools > Speeding up your site.
Just updated to 14.0.4 and “click here to speed up your site shows again”.. ((( Still it says “Don’t worry: this won’t have to be done after each update.” ))
Is there something wrong with my website or is this still fixing some bugs with this update?
Edwin, I have no problems with update luckily. Yesterday I installed 14.0.1 and made a speed index overnight (I have around 70000 objects). Today 14.0.2 went live and it offers me to start index once again.
I plan to finish it overnight again, but wanted to ask: were there some bugs in 14.0.1 and to fix them 14.0.2 needs to re-index the objects? Or is it just my tough luck?
Thank you and all the team for the great plugin!
“Speeding up your site” is not shown. I have the latest update, and visited SEO -> Tools.
I only see “Bulk Editor”, “File Editor” and “Import and Export”.
Is it Risky to just update it without activating this new indexing function?
Or will it change nothing at all?
Thanks
Hi Neko. You don’t have to run it now. If you want, you can do it at a later time.
Just now I updated my Yoast plugin. This release is really a game-changer. The biggest thing is that it is available in the free version also.
Thank you Joost de Valk!
Thank you Yoast de Valk!
Awesome, Abdul. Thanks for your support!
Hi! My site is on WP. After updates 14.0 and 14.0.1 there is no SEO analysis and Readability?
Hi Ivan, that might be the result of a plugin conflict. Please follow the steps outlined in this article to find out: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/
Just installed 14.01 it said it installed but when I try to index I get Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later.
Hi James. I’m sorry the indexing process didn’t work properly. We’re releasing a new patch today fixing a number of issues. This should improve the indexing process. Also, when updating, please make sure all your other plugins, themes and WordPress itself are updated.
We are presented in only one country. We don’t want global presense, so our site is in only one natibe language. After the update, the site slowed down with 1sec. Can we roll back the speed optimization and how?
Hi Umen,
Sorry to hear you are having this problem on your site!
We’ve been working hard to resolve any problems that were reported to us. In doing so we’ve released a couple of patch-versions which combat these issues.
We ask you to update to the latest version (14.0.4) which should resolve these problems for you.
Hi. About the problem in panel/login, this is the error. What can I do?

Hi! I’m sorry you are encountering issues. We’ve already pushed out a fix yesterday and will push another one later today. This should fix most of the issues, including yours.
Hi. An advice. After the last update 14.0.2, everything seems to be back to normal. The bulletin board works quickly. But now I get the message “Yoast SEO now archives your site’s SEO data in a smarter way! Don’t worry: this won’t have to be done after each update”, as in version 14.0.0, what should we do? To click on or not? Can we risk creating the same slowness issue on the control panel? Thanks
Hello. After the update “indexables” (more 8000 articles) we have a problem to entry in panel control / login. Is very slow. How can resolve?
Hi,
After updating the Yoast plugin to Version 14.0.1. I am facing the issue with AMP and getting below error on my website:-

Hi Ravi. Sorry to hear about your issue. We’ve fixed a number of issues with the update we pushed out yesterday. Today, we’re pushing 14.0.2 which would solve a lot of the issues that were brought to our attention.
still the problem is not solved in my site.
I am seeing same error.
Shaved half a second off on loading times, so far so good ! :)
That’s great, Chris! Thanks for sharing

Hi. We’re sorry about that, please update to the latest version to see if the problem persists. In addition, we’re doing another update today. Also, when updating, please make sure all your other plugins, themes and WordPress itself are updated.
I’ve just updated to version 14 of Yoast Premium and,
Uncaught PDOException: SQLSTATE[22007]: Invalid datetime format: 1366 Incorrect string value:
Solutions pleas
Hi Carlos. Sorry about your issue. We’ve pushed an update yesterday and will push another one today. These should take care of most of the issues, including yours.
well… indexing has been running for 2 hours now, its at 43275 of 1190212 now.. its still moving at a snails page of about 25 every few minutes.
And its moved the server load from our always stable and consistent 10% up to 25% as well…
Same here on my very large and high traffic site… but worse. I scaled my AWS serverless db up to 16x its normal capacity and let it run overnight. Which will cost me a few hundred extra dollars on my AWS bill this month.
When I checked first thing this morning it had gotten through about 10% of the indexing job. What’s worse, “stop indexation” does not actually appear to stop indexation. It appears to be still indexing, and I have to keep the db scaled up to keep normal operations going.
I’ve been running this site for a decade, and it’s properly cached and configured to be performant. As things stand now, this update is going to cost me thousands of dollars in AWS costs. This might be the last straw for me with Yoast if I don’t see signs it’s going to be fixed today.
Can I stop indexing? Consume a lot of database
after updating to speed boost my site show critical errors on mobile. please resolve the problem, temporary i deactivate the yoast plugin
Hi Fahad,
We’ve released a new version which will likely resolve the problems on your site. Please update to the latest version (14.0.2). If the problems remain, please try to let us know in detail what is happening so we can solve the problems.
The only issue I’ve had so far is when the plugin does thru the indexing process to update the db. It gets a large way thru it and I get this at 1000+ records left – Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later.
Hi Keith. We’re addressing a number of issues in a couple of bug fix patches. We did one yesterday and we’re doing one later today. These should improve the indexing process and clean up other issues.
Thank Edwin for your response. Yesterdays patch got me to 508 records and today’s pretty much fixed the entire issue as far as I can and completed successfully! Appreciate the rapid patch, that some good work there.
Sounds like there are a LOT of issues w/ this update. I have all sorts of errors on my site. My tech guy reset to earlier version and is warning people against updating until you guys fix all the problems.
Hi Debbie. We’re sorry about these issues. We’re pushing out updates to fix these. Today, you’ll see 14.0.2 appear. This release should fix most of the issues. Also, when updating, please make sure all your other plugins, themes and WordPress itself are updated.
i’ve updated, it says to update seo data base or keep the old system,
i did the update, when it ends, it seems ok,
but when i navigate the site,
i have php crash on all pages
with a message “fatal error……too few arguments……”
and pages not loading at all
i roll back to 13.5,
Hi Al. We’re sorry you’ve encountered these issues. We’ve pushed out a fix yesterday for the most pressing issues. In addition, we’re pushing another update today which should solve most issues. Check back later today.
Further to my earlier message about indexing not completing, I now get this message from my WP site health dashboard:
The request to Ryte to check whether your site can be found by search engines failed due to an error.
Error details: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 5001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (http_request_failed)
Hope these issues get addressed quickly. Seems like 14.0 isn’t ready for prime time.
I am having the same issue.. Have you found out how to fix it?
Hi Steve,
Thanks for reporting these issues. The indexing not completing issue should be fixed in 14.0.1, but we’re not 100% sure. Please let us know if this happens again!
For the Ryte check we have a fix scheduled for 14.1, which is due in two weeks.
This happens for me too. I’m on 14.0.3..
After updating to the new version 14.0 , there is not showing the meta title and meta description in the serahc engine. Now what can i do to fix this isse.
Hi Sohel,
We’re sorry to hear that you are having these issues. There have been more reports and we’ve released a new version: 14.0.2. This version solves problems with these fields not being output correctly. Does upgrading fix this for you?
Same issue
Does this offer the ability to fix for the “data-vocabulary.org schema deprecated” warning in google search console?
We don’t use the data-vocabulary.org schema anymore, so this error should not occur with Yoast SEO 14.0
Hi, is it possible that the update causes a bug that the breadcrumb on the index page is shown twice?
I’ve seen quite a few reports today, but that one is new to me. We did include a couple of breadcrumbs issues in 14.0.1. Maybe that fixes is. If not, could you reach out to support? Or when you are a free user, you are welcome to create an issue on Github: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues
Hi,
Awsome upgrade! …but I may have a problem right after I clicked on “click here to speed up your site now”.
After some minutes it says “element 9433 of 3371” …and it’s still growing! Is that normal?
Thanks,
Ranieri
Hi Ranieri,
We think we fixed it in 14.0.1, but we’re not sure. Please let us know if this happens again!
Guys you should make a BIG WARNING that this is for beta testers, I get 404s all over the site pages! Please fix this ASAP
Hi, Where Yoast has been updated to 14.0, I’m getting errors as follows:

Thanks,

Hi David,
Two things come to mind:
1) Something went wrong when installing the plugin. Deleting the plugin and installing it again might fix that.
2) You might be installing Yoast SEO using composer. Running
composer du
should fix your problem.Hi Omar,
I’m also now seeing the following error message on some sites:
“Yoast SEO was unable to create the database tables required and as such will not function correctly.
Please read this help article to find out how to resolve this problem.”
The help article says to contact the hosting company, but I doubt this is an issue with the hosting as the site had no such message until yesterday and the 14.0 release.
David
Hi Omar,
The above error happened on 14 different sites, all updated by Softaculous.
The 14.0.1 update has been applied and now I see the button “Click here to speed up your site now” (it didn’t appear after the 14.0 update) – however when I click it, it immediately shows “Speeding up your site. Something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site. Please try again later.”
Thanks,
David
Hi David,
Seems softaculous doesn’t delete files we’ve deleted in the zip. Fix for that upcoming in 14.0.3 today.
The “Something went wrong” error seems related to that as the plugin was probably unable to create all database tables it needed to make. If that is the case, you can use the Yoast test helper plugin to reset the indexables tables.
I saw similar softalous issues, anything that auto updated failed.
Thanks @David this is what I was looking for, and makes sense.
@Team Yoast you need to test this more for the next release.
I’ve just updated to version 14 of Yoast Premium and so far I’m impressed by the results. I’ve tested a few of my pages and the time between TTB and DOM Loaded has almost halved. 0.3 – 0.5ms may not sound like much but it is on the internet. The site feels more responsive.
Well done.
That’s awesome Robin! Thanks!
Congrats on the launch of 14.0 indexable.
I programmatically add meta description to some custom post types like so:
update_post_meta($post_id, ‘_yoast_wpseo_metadesc’, ‘meta description here’);
Will this continue to work?
Hi Collins, great question! For the time being, yes, postmeta are even still the original source of truth about a post and are what we use to build an indexable. When postmeta is updated through the normal WordPress API’s for that, we sync the indexable. If and when we want to change this pattern we’ll announce this here and on Twitter and give integrators time to adapt.
How did u add programmable meta tags?
Since updating 3 hours ago I have a critical error:

What can I do?
Hi Yael, thanks for your question. This was fixed in Yoast SEO 14.0.1. When you update, the error should be gone.
the newest version I block my website!
You can no longer log in to the Administrator Panel in wp-admin
Hi there, we just released 14.0.1 which should fix most issues that were reported. Does upgrading fix it for you?
I have the same problem right now
We have released 14.0.2 in the meanwhile. Does upgrading fix it for you?
after updating yoast 14.0 , my post seo tool is not working .
Hi just update it to the latest version and after the speed up you website option all my emojis broke into four question marks ????
How can I fix it?
Hi there, we just released 14.0.1 which should fix most issues that were reported. Does upgrading fix it for you?
no. the problem continues…
The error occurs due to conflict in the th table ‘wp00_yoast_indexable’ in your database.
Here’s the steps that I did to fix the error:
1. Go to your CPanel > PhpMyAdmin
Select the database of your website.
Look for ‘wp00_yoast_indexable’. Delete or Drop the table (wp00_yoast_indexable).
2. Go to your WordPress Dashboard. Then Plugins > Add New
Search for Plugin – Yoast Test Helper
Install and Activate it.
3. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
Look for the section that says ‘Yoast SEO’ with options like Reset Internal link counter, Reset Prominent words calculation, Reset Configuration wizard, Reset Notifications, Reset Site information, Reset Tracking, Reset Indexables tables & migrations.
Click on the option that says “Reset Indexables tables & migrations” .
It will fix the issue and you will get a notification that says ‘Click here to speed up your site now’.
Click on it to speed up your site. :)
always wait 1-2 weeks after big updates, then upgrade ur WP theme or plugins
its a golden rule for all you guys out there
