Google Webmaster Tools on steroids
I love Google Webmaster Tools, especially when it started showing external links. This link overview left me and quite a lot of other SEO's longing for more though, as we all wanted more info on that page. I have now created a Greasemonkey script to show the PageRank of the page linking to you, and the anchor text used for the link.
The script also checks if the link is by any chance nofollowed, and gives you a warning when it is. It does the same when it doesn't find the link. Check it out: GWT External Links++!

Great tool!
Tested it, works wonderfully.
The anchor and "not found" features are great,
thanks a lot.
Nice.. usefull..
PS: what happend to the technorati tool? Any updates?
Very, very, very cool script Joost.
Thx guys :) I'll be updating some small things soon.
Indeed it is a very useful tool! Thanks Joost.
I've just updated the script, now handles single frame sites correctly as well, displays alt text when it's an image link and handles non-www links as well when you have a http://www.example.com like domain.
Hi Joost!
It appeares to be a great script, but unfortunately, I couldn't test it because I don't know how to install it. Could you give some more information about how we should install the script?
Thanks!
Bram
Hey Bram,
ga hierheen en installeer greasemonkey, restart firefox, en ga dan hierheen om het script te ionstalleren. Succes!
Thanks a lot Joost!
It's really helpfull :-)
Hey man, this is a really cool tool. Before I didn't wanna get GreaseMonkey - but I did just so I can your your scripts!
They work great! :) Thank you!
Oh, just noticed something, some sites don't use a rel="nofollow", they use rel="external nofollow" so it doesn't show up in orange.
Very impressive!
This is going to be downloaded a lot. There is a post about the script at http://www.seroundtable.com/
Thanks a lot Joost.
groetjes,
petra
Great script! I created broad description of your script for polish community at http://www.ittechnology.us/.
Thanks!
Thx all you guys! Loving the great feedback :)
Hey Joost,
Like the other guy I installed greasemonkey just to use your script and its awesome, cheers!
Great work! Compliments!
This is a great tool. I can see now that my external linking is a real mess. All different kinds of anchor text, some of it is pretty dumb, like the word "web" separated from the word "site". And I see clearly what pages are being linked at, revealing more areas for improvement.
Joost, Any idea of how I could download all of this good information, similar to the Google buttons at the bottom of the page, but with the anchor text? I really should sort this all out and correct my anchor text situation.
I found the tool and posted on Aaoron's site, but didn't know if you are still checking his bog.
Many thanks.
Thx all, Jim: you're able to export the data from Google, and I'll be building a tool which get's the same info as this script when you input the csv you get from Google.
I will look forward to seeing all that great data in my spread sheet one day. Fantastic!
I am not clear on the meaning of the "link not found" text. I clicked on it, visited the referring site and there is a link and it works. I must be missing something. No one else has asked this.
Could you show me the case? Might be that the link is a redirect :)
It is telling me that most of my links don't exist. When I click on the link I find my backlink there. It seems to have a real problem with http://www.searchenginewatch.com.

This link is in my webmaster tools for the url
http://www.ogletreeseo.com/106.html
I have a link near the bottom of the SEW page and the script does not find it.
David, if I send you a newer version, could you try if that works?
Hey Joost,
GREAT TOOL ! But I do have the same problem as David. In some cases it show no link while there is a link... Can You send me the newer version as well ? Thxs!
Dave
OOPSY,
the links gone bad :(
sorry!
Omer
Hi Omer, I've removed some of your links, as this is a, as you are no doubt aware, no-nofollow blog, i tend to check carefully on what I link out to, and if that adds value for my readers. Your links unfortunately aren't worth anything to my readers as they are in Hebrew, so I've removed them.
o.k , sorry , no problem :)
i hope soon ill translate the website to english.
Good :)
Hi Joost,
Any news when the excel plugin will be ready? I would love to be able to download the PR, anchor text etc into a excel spreadsheet :)
Cheers for the script, its awesome.
Joost,
I just want to add to the roar or fan support for your plugin and cheer on the development of the download capability. That would be dynamite!
Cheers,
Jim.
There’s an error in Google Webmaster Tools, exactly in the "external links" option…
In this article explains it: Error in Google Webmaster Tools
Also there is a online tool to count and view the real amount of pages that links to any site: Who links to me
hi joost. i found out about this script on the big seomoz thread going on. i'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong or what's going on but i am only getting the additional information from your script on the 1st page of links showing in gwt. how can i get this super helpful info to show up for all of my links in gwt? from what i've seen so far i love it and want more of it.
For all those still subscribed to this thread :) I've just updated the script, it should work again now, I'll be working on it a bit more, but I appreciate any and all bug reports!
What a totally cool script. I didn't know about Greasemonkey, let alone this script but after using it I've been telling everyone I know about it. Just one more reason to love Firefox !!
Thanks Joost !!
Lekker hoor, Nice script.
Hi,
just installed and tested. First made a install page i will be so much simple.
Next a foud a bug. If you switch page before the script have finish displayed information. script stop to word and we need to reactivate the script. I was displayed 100 per page for info.
Next bug since that no PR is display,
Questions : where you take your PR since alot of page was wrong the was displayed PR-2 and google bar PR-0 maybe it will be the next one ?.
Suggetion remove the nofollow here ! :-)
Sounds interesting, Going to install this right now and see how it works, Although most of these tools that are supposed to show Pr never actually have done, Would like to see this one work.
Thanks!
Dam, I cant edit my above post but this extension is GREAT, Nice work. Cred to the creators!
