Writing with Yoast SEO and Bertha – a content AI tool

If you’re a content creator, you’ve probably considered using a content AI tool to help you write. After all, these tools can be extremely helpful in generating ideas and getting your creative juices flowing. But is it really a good idea to rely on an AI tool for your writing? I wrote this post together with Bertha. This is a tool that will help you to draft your content using AI. In this blog post, Bertha and I will tell you all about our first collaboration!

How to start with Bertha?

This section is actually written by me, Marieke. I was skeptical about AI. I am a writer, an artist, and was not that sure that a robot could take my place. But I decided to give this a try. The first step I took was to let Bertha come up with a blog post outline based on the title of this article. Bertha gave me some great ideas! I chose the following outline:

  1. Introduction: Content AI tool that can help you write better headlines, blog posts, and social media updates
  2. Yoast: A content optimization plugin for WordPress that will help you with your SEO
  3. What does Bertha.AI do?
  4. Conclusion: How these two tools can help you take your content to the next level

I decided to skip the second suggestion because that will not be of much use for our Yoast audience. After that, I asked Bertha to write the introduction to this blog post. Admittedly, I added the last three sentences myself (hey, it still is a collaboration :-)). Also, I filled out the focus keyphrase in Yoast SEO for which I want this post to rank for ‘Yoast SEO and Bertha’. With the paragraph generator, I generated the three topics Bertha suggested I would write. It asked me what the paragraphs should be about. So, it’s my opinion and voice you’re reading, but I did not draft those exact sentences. After that, I generated the concluding paragraph.

My (or should I say Bertha’s) readability score remained green throughout the writing process. I did notice that Bertha’s sentences are a bit more lengthy than my sentences generally are. The bullet of the Yoast SEO analysis was orange. So I did some minor tweaks on my SEO after I drafted this post.

Do Content AI tools like Bertha help you?

If you’re someone who uses WordPress and wants to be found online, then you’re the ideal customer for Bertha. It’s a content AI tool that can help you write better headlines, blog posts, and social media updates. Marieke, who was originally skeptical about AI’s ability to write a blog post, is now a big fan of Bertha. She thinks it’s especially useful for product descriptions. With Bertha, you can keep your own voice and let the AI handle the hard writing work.

So what does Bertha do?

If you’re struggling to write a blog post, don’t worry – Bertha is here to help. It’s an AI-powered writing assistant that can help you get the job done. Just enter your topic and Bertha will get to work, giving you the perfect paragraph to use in your blog post. So why not give her a try?

If you’ve ever used an AI content tool, you know that they can sometimes say weird things. In Bertha’s case, she said that Bertha is better than Yoast and that’s simply not true :-). The AI can sometimes make mistakes, especially with longer pieces of text. So it’s important to keep using your brain and not rely too heavily on AI.

Yoast SEO and Bertha: a match made in heaven?

If you’re using WordPress, then you should definitely try out Bertha (together with Yoast SEO). They work great together and can really help improve your online presence. Yoast SEO can help ensure that all the SEO boxes are checked, while this AI tool can do the hard work of writing for you. So there you have it! If you’re looking for a great SEO tool, give Bertha a try.

    Hi,
    I give a try.

When I try to active my license I have to wait 4 days until it works. Each time I browse on their website, it was really really slow. So I’m not surprised it took so long.
First attempt: I give some words to Bertha – all in French. Bertha answered me in English.
    That was my last attempt…
Why Yoast is promoting such a tool?

      Hi Christophe,

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience with Bertha. Could we ask which license you obtained? If you encountered problems when trying to use the free version of Bertha, could you let the Bertha team know about your experience in this group? We appreciate your time and effort.

Regarding AI-based writing assistants like Bertha, we do think there are a lot of use cases for such a tool. It can give us ideas, help us write readable text and help us with writer blocks. But we do believe that it should only assist us in creating content, and that no one should use the tool to generate posts or product descriptions all together.

I’m quite disappointed to read this post.

Yoast usually offers excellent SEO advice.

But AI writing goes against Google’s guidelines and can be classed as spam.

Good writers write and don’t need tools like this.

Hee Derek. Thanks for your feedback. Of course, you really do have a point here. If you are a good writer, you don’t need a tool like this. And we feel that you should not use the tool to generate blogposts or product descriptions all together. That being said, if you give an AI tool the right input, it could really help you to draft readable sentences. Especially for non-native writers or people with writers block. It should always be a collaboration and never the AI doing all the work. I think the result of using an AI content tool should always be that the writing becomes better and the experience of users should become better. (

I agree, Marieke. Some AI tools are useful for analysis and correction. But even Grammarly, which uses AI, is only about 70% correct most of the time. My concern is that some inexperienced bloggers might think that churning out ten blog posts or articles a day using an AI writing tool is effective for SEO. Used wisely, AI can help for sure. But it should never be relied upon to write content.

been using jasper ai and for the top price its about the same as this one mentioned with unlimited writing, and since i have been using it for quite some time, when writing with AI its not always accurate and you will use your word credits up fast trying to get AI to write right. most of the time that does not happen if you know how to give the AI the right text to write about. so I prefer an unlimited account, i can write 100k words a day when I have 4 hours to write. AI assistants for writing are great. really helps writers block at times.

      Hi Darrell,

We agree, AI assistants like Bertha are great for helping us with writer’s block! But we do think they should assist and help us instead of doing the work for us.

Regarding the usage limit, Bertha states in the company’s fair use policy that the usage limit is “to comply with the AI’s terms of use and to ensure that the tool is used by humans and is not automated to create an unproportionate amount of words per month.”

How does it do / perform in Dutch?

      Hi Chris,

Bertha should work in Dutch! It supports more than 20 languages and many more dialects. We recommend playing around with it to get a feel of the results for your content.
