Let’s get to know Uttkrista Chhetri

Those are some lovely words by Utsav. Let’s get to know Uttkrista a bit better and ask him some questions about his work and passion for WordPress:

One of my main goals for this year is to take on greater leadership within the WordPress community, whether that means stepping into a larger role or becoming a table lead at an upcoming WordCamp. I’m especially interested in being more involved in team management and in contributing to the smooth execution of events.

I also hope to connect with more people from different countries and across Nepal, as those interactions have always been a meaningful part of my experience in the community. In addition, I am expanding my contributions by publishing a pattern, continuing to contribute photos, and actively participating in moderation. Overall, my goal is to contribute more consistently while also growing into other roles.

What do you think made you stand out for this nomination?

One of the key reasons I believe I stood out for this nomination is the range of roles I have taken on from a relatively young age within the WordPress community. I was involved as a speaker, organizer, photo contributor, and now as a photo moderator. Each role has allowed me to engage with the community in different ways and to build a broader understanding of how it functions.

I think this diversity in my contributions, along with my consistency and active involvement, has helped me make a meaningful impact. Rather than limiting myself to one area, I’ve tried to explore multiple aspects of contribution and take on more responsibility over time, which may have contributed to this recognition.

What’s your favorite WordPress memory or something you’re most proud of?

One of my favorite WordPress memories is being part of the AX (Attendee Experience) team at WordCamp Nepal 2026, held in Butwal. This was my second time serving as an organizer, and it was a huge learning experience for me. I also had the opportunity to write blogs, which helped me reflect on the event in a more meaningful way.

What made it truly special, though, was the people. I got to connect with so many individuals from different backgrounds, and being trusted with responsibilities like managing the job board, the Wall of Experience, and helping run the bingo game made me feel genuinely involved. It wasn’t just about contributing, it was about being part of something bigger.

Overall, it was one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences I’ve had in the WordPress community, and I’m really proud of it.

Who is your WordPress mentor?

My WordPress mentor is my dad, Yam B. Chhetri. He has been actively contributing to the WordPress community for many years, taking on roles such as organizer, speaker, and contributor across different areas, including events like WordCamps and the Photos Team.

Seeing his long-term involvement and the impact he has made within the WordPress ecosystem inspired me to get involved from a young age. Through him, I was introduced to WordCamps, community events, and the idea of contributing beyond just using WordPress.

His experience, dedication, and continued giving back to the community have played a major role in shaping my own journey. He continues to guide and inspire me as I grow and take on more responsibilities within the WordPress space.

Where can people connect with you? Online, at WordCamps, or other meetups?

You’ll most likely find me at WordCamps within Nepal, as I try to stay active in the community space. I’m also planning to take part in more meetups in the future. So those are some of the main places where you can connect with me.

Besides that, I’m available online, especially on LinkedIn. I enjoy connecting with new people, having conversations, and being part of the community. Feel free to reach out, say hi at an event, or connect with me online!
