Meet Nyasha Green, a beloved member of the WordPress Community Team! Thanks to her unwavering dedication and fantastic contributions to the community, Michelle Frechette proudly nominated her for the Yoast Care fund. Let’s take a moment to learn more about this enthusiastic WordPress contributor!

Nominator Michelle Frechette: “Nyasha Green works with individuals to teach them code, and she also mentors them into jobs. She is also a tireless and fierce supporter and champion of underrepresented people in technology, specifically WordPress. She is a meetup organizer on the Make Marketing team, and she delivered a fantastic Keynote at WordCamp Rochester.

Let’s get to know Nyasha Green

That’s quite an introduction, Michelle! We would love to get to know Nyasha even better. That’s why we asked her some questions about her work and her passion for WordPress:

Hi, Nyasha! What do you do?

I am a Software Developer and a LinkedIn Learning instructor specializing in WordPress. I also mentor new people getting into tech, I’m a co-rep on the WordPress marketing team, a local meetup organizer, and a speaker. So, with WordPress, I can do anything my heart desires.

How do you know about WordPress?

I first heard about WordPress back in college when I started a blog. It was about leaving home and being in college. Years later, two of my mentors approached me about working in WordPress when I was looking for a technical field to specialize in. I started building websites, and I have loved it ever since.

Who is your WordPress hero?

My WordPress hero is Chris Ford. She is intelligent, kind, helpful, and hilarious. I am always inspired by the things she says and does. In addition, like many other WordPressers, she has a great story. I feel like I’m in the right place when I meet people like her and other inspiring individuals in the community.

What would you love to do in the future?

In the future, I would love to be able to travel all over the world teaching other people WordPress, and other things that I know. I get to do that through LinkedIn, as my courses can be viewed all over the world, but I want to get to the point where I’m teaching in person one day. That way, I can also experience other cultures, and share a little of my culture with them.

Where may people find you? Online, WordCamps, other meetups?

People can find me online, or on LinkedIn. I also go to WordCamp US every year and visit smaller ones from time to time! So be sure to look me up if I’m ever near, if you want to get a bite to eat. I am the co-organizer of the Columbia, South Carolina’s WordPress meetup group, so you can also find me there (we provide free lunch to attendees as well)!

Thank you for this interview, Nyasha, and for all of your contributions to the WordPress community! Do you know someone like Nyasha Green who also deserves to be in the spotlight? Go to our Yoast Care page and nominate them right away.
