Let’s get to know Muhibul Haque

That’s quite an introduction, Benjamin! We would love to get to know Muhibul even better. That’s why we asked him some questions about his work and passion for WordPress:

Hi, Muhibul! How did you get in touch with WordPress?

My freelancing journey began with SEO, where I observed clients’ emphasis on on-page SEO, which requires basic web development knowledge. I started learning WordPress development because WordPress is the most popular CMS, and most websites are built in WordPress. Over time, I embraced various technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and JavaScript, expanding my expertise as a full-time WordPress developer.

Why did you start contributing?

I had no idea about open-source contributions, but last year, in August, I found a post about WordPress open-source contributions in a local Facebook group. I saw that they are contributing to WordPress core, which attracted me greatly. So, I joined the Make WordPress Slack community to learn the contribution process.

Like many contributors, I began my journey by joining the Polyglot team, translating numerous strings, and eagerly seeking opportunities to contribute code to WordPress core. My journey into core contributions began with patch testing that brought a core contribution badge for me.

What does WordPress look like in your perfect world?

In my perfect world, WordPress is a seamlessly intuitive platform, empowering users with limitless customization options and unparalleled accessibility. It requires no coding, boasts the collaborative efforts of thousands of developers, and undergoes frequent updates and bug fixes.

What contribution or moment are you most proud of?

I contributed to the Twenty Twenty-Four WordPress theme, the latest block theme released by the WordPress Themes Team. I ranked as one of the top 10 contributors to the list of developers, of which I feel proud. That experience helped me to develop my block theme later.

What would you love to do in the future?

I am working as a full-time WordPress developer for a company. Besides that, I want to continue my contribution journey, too. I got some recognition for my work, which inspired me. Currently, I am working as a Faculty member of the WordPress Training Team and Editor on WordPress TV.

Where can people find you? Online, WordCamps, other meetups?

I join local meetups and WordCamps happen in Bangladesh. We will have a local meet-up on the 10th and the 11th of May 2024. Also, I am active on Facebook and LinkedIn. My latest social handles people can find from my WordPress profile as well. Just so you know, I’m working as a developer at BuzzGeek.

Thank you for this interview, Muhibul, and for all of your contributions to the WordPress community! Do you know someone like Muhibul Haque who also deserves to be in the spotlight? Go to our Yoast Care page and nominate them right away.
