Let’s get to know Jevilyn Fajardo

That’s quite an introduction, Harcy! We would love to get to know Jevilyn even better. That’s why we asked her some questions about her work and her passion for WordPress:

Hi, Jevilyn Fajardo! What do you do?

I work at Pantheon as a team member of Business Service; I handle a range of tasks, including offboarding, general billing, renewals, and a bit of overage. Offboarding involves ensuring a smooth transition for clients leaving our platform. General billing includes managing invoices and other billing-related questions.

I also help with Renewals to ensure that the services people purchased with Pantheon are appropriately applied to their account. Additionally, I am learning how to explain or assist our customers with their Overage-related inquiries. My role is crucial in maintaining positive relationships with our clients and ensuring their needs are met throughout their time with Pantheon.

Why did you start contributing? Could you share your first contribution with us?

I was first invited to a meetup event by one of the organizers of WPUGPH Manila: Carl Alberto. Initially, I didn’t understand anything at all. I asked myself, “Why am I here instead of sleeping?” I sat at the back, where I met Oneal for the first time. He talked about his experiences at a WordPress event, which sounded fun and exciting.

Within the same month, I was invited to the Philippine Tech Community Leads meeting. I never realized there was such a community where all different tech leads gathered to discuss how to improve IT skills within the Philippines through collaboration. They were all volunteering their time, and I was inspired by all the plans they prepared for the year.

After that, I was challenged to organize my first WordPress meetup; I was so excited that I booked the venue in less than a month, reached out to all possible speakers, and posted the event on all our social media channels using my limited design skills. That meetup was my first public speaking.

After my first meetup, I never looked back. It was incredible meeting people who inspired me and helped me understand this previously unknown world. I was so happy to meet people willing to lend a hand and help you reach your goal.

What does WordPress look like in your perfect world?

In my perfect world, WordPress is a thriving ecosystem where creativity knows no bounds. Users, developers, designers, and enthusiasts come together to collaborate, share knowledge, and contribute. This is a community where everyone feels welcome and supported. It’s a place where people of all backgrounds and skill levels can learn and grow together.

The WordPress community are my people – a group of like-minded individuals who share a passion for WordPress and a commitment to helping each other succeed. It’s where friendships are formed, ideas are exchanged, and dreams are realized.

Who is your WordPress mentor?

It’s the community. Within this community, countless individuals have generously shared their knowledge, experience, and expertise. Whether through local meetups, online forums, or contributions to open-source projects, I’ve been fortunate to learn from many people who have helped shape my understanding of WordPress.

I’d also like to say thank you to my friends, who answered all my questions while I was creating my website. :) And to my co-organizers, who became my brothers. I appreciate all your help. I look forward to more meetups and flagship events with you guys. I’m grateful to be part of a community that acts as a collective mentor, always ready to support, teach, and inspire.

What would you love to do in the future?

In the future, I aspire to introduce WordPress to everyone in every part of the Philippines. I’d like to spread awareness and knowledge about WordPress to all corners of the country, traveling from bustling urban centers to remote rural areas.

Additionally, I would love to organize workshops, seminars, and meetups in various cities and provinces, reaching out to people of all backgrounds and skill levels. These events would cater to beginners as well as seasoned professionals. I am proud to say that we were able to have our meetup in Baguio after five years. Now, we are organizing meetups in the Rizal area, CAMANAVA, San Pablo, and Bacoor.

I want to inspire individuals who, like me, bravely stepped into this unknown world—a territory filled with unfamiliar jargon, technical concepts, and endless possibilities. As I navigate the unknown, I want others to know they can do it, too. I want to show individuals who may feel intimidated or unsure that it’s possible to thrive in this space, regardless of their background or experience.

Being part of this community is one of my best contributions. From humble beginnings to boundless possibilities, this is just the beginning of my WordPress journey!

Where may people find you? Online, WordCamps, other meetups?
