Let’s get to know María Valeria Di Donato

Those are some lovely words by Lua. Let’s get to know María a bit better and ask her some questions about her work and passion for WordPress:

How did you discover WordPress and why did you start contributing?

I discovered WordPress several years ago while looking for tools to develop web projects in a flexible and professional way. At first, I really enjoyed using it, but I didn’t know how to get involved in the community. One day, I decided to ask how I could participate, and that decision changed my life. Since then, I have become a Co-organizer of WordPress Buenos Aires and an active member of the WordPress Latam Community, which has allowed me to collaborate with people from different countries. For me, contributing to WordPress is not just about technology: it’s about connecting, learning together, and helping more people use this tool to grow professionally and develop their projects.

What is your WordPress-related goal for this year?

My goal for this year is to continue progressing and growing within the WordPress Community, encouraging the participation of new people who want to join. I am interested not only in sharing technical knowledge but also in inspiring and supporting those who are starting out, helping their ideas and projects thrive. WordPress provides an ecosystem full of opportunities for both entrepreneurs and businesses, and my aim is to continue being a bridge so more people can discover and take full advantage of what the community offers.

What advice would you give to someone starting with WordPress?

I would say that the most important thing is not to be afraid to start and to join a nearby Community. No matter their level of knowledge, we are here to help, guide, and support learning. WordPress is not only a powerful tool but also has an incredibly open and collaborative community. And honestly, it’s impossible not to fall in love with it: every day you discover new possibilities, solutions, and people willing to share their experience.

Who is your WordPress mentor?

If I talk about WordPress as a tool, I have learned from many leaders over the years and am deeply grateful for every lesson. Regarding the Community, I have been fortunate to receive guidance from wonderful people such as Fernando Tellado, Rocío Valdivia, Luis Climent, Lidia Arrollo, and Lua Salazar. Today, our main mentor, who constantly supports us, advises and guides the Community, and is also an amazing WordPress reference, is Álex Cuadra. Having a mentor like this not only strengthens my knowledge but also inspires me to help and motivate others.
