Let’s get to know Alex Cuadra

Thank you for those kind words, Lidia! We’ll make sure Alex gets the appreciation he deserves, so let’s get to know him a bit better by asking a few questions about his work and passion for WordPress

Hi, Alex! How do you know about WordPress?

I first discovered WordPress back in 2010 while I was in college. I needed a tool to quickly build a website, so I created a blog for one of my classes. Although I wasn’t actively contributing to the community at that time, using the tool was my initial step, and I quickly became a strong advocate for it.

Why WordPress?

I love WordPress because of its incredible balance between accessibility and power. Even with hundreds of thousands of plugins and themes available, it remains deeply customizable. You can truly leverage it as a robust framework to create complex, awesome websites. The dedicated ecosystem of well-developed plugins also drastically streamlines the website-building process for every project.

Why did you start contributing? Could you share your first contribution with us?

I officially learned about the contribution opportunities during a WordCamp in my city, Managua, Nicaragua, in 2017. That event showed me the different ways I could get involved. My first official contribution was as an Organizer for WordCamp Managua 2019, where my main task was building the event website. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of contributing across multiple areas, including WPTV, Polyglots, Testing, and, currently, the Community Team, where I serve as an Event Mentor and WP Credits Mentor.

What contribution or moment are you most proud of?

The moment I’m most proud of was the first time I led a WordCamp. It was a significant challenge because we were focused on reactivating our local meetups and building momentum, which required significant effort and coordination. Overcoming those obstacles and successfully hosting the event were huge personal and collective achievements. While I have many great memories, that leadership experience definitely stands out as the first one I’m most proud of.

Where may people find you? Online, WordCamps, other meetups?

You can easily find me on LinkedIn, where I actively share my experiences from WordCamps and other WordPress events. Additionally, I host a podcast called ValexWeb where I share essential information about the WordPress Community in Spanish in a conversational format.

Thank you for this interview, Alex, and for all of your contributions to the WordPress community! Do you know someone like Alex Cuadra who also deserves to be in the spotlight? Visit our Yoast Care page and nominate them immediately.
