No programmer? Don’t worry! This Schema training is easy to follow even if you’re scared of code. This training is for everyone, not just for Yoast SEO or WordPress users.
Do you want rich snippets? If so, you need structured data on your site. Structured data is a way of directly communicating with search engines. By using Schema.org you can tell search engines what your site or page is about. Search engines no longer have to guess whether a product listing is a product listing, you can now tell them it is. By doing this, you enable Google to highlight your site in new ways. Rich snippets greatly enhance the chance someone clicks on your link.
Take a recipe, for instance. A recipe consists of, among other things, ingredients, preparation instructions, cooking time and calories. There might even be reviews on your site by cooks that used your recipe. You can show all this information in the search results if you add recipe structured data to your recipe page. The same goes for job listings, restaurant information, movie times, articles and much, much more.
It used to be fairly hard to understand and add structured data. These days, however, it is a lot simpler, thanks in part to JSON-LD and a multitude of helpful tools and resources. In our view, though, it is not simple enough. We would like everyone to enjoy the benefits of rich snippets and other rich snippets provide. We went back to the drawing board to offer you the first ever course on structured data that’s easy to understand and gives results that you can actively use.
In the Yoast Structured data training, you’ll get up to speed on all things structured data and Schema.org. Joost de Valk and Marieke van de Rakt will explain in easy to understand language what this fairly abstract subject encompasses. They’ll show you just how important structured data is for your site, how it all fits together and, of course, how to easily implement it yourself. Everyone wants rich snippets, right? If so, you need this training!

1. What is structured data?
In the first module, we’ll introduce you to structured data. Find out what it is and how it influences search rankings. 2. Implementing Schema.org with JSON-LD
Module two is all about JSON-LD and is key to understanding how to implement structured data. In this part, we’ll talk about code in a way that even newcomers can understand. You’ll learn how to explain what JSON-LD is and why we use it. You’ll understand the syntax of JSON-LD and, of course, how to implement JSON-LD on your site. In addition, we’ll show you how to create JSON-LD by copying and adapting code. We’ll introduce you to alternative implementation tools for JSON-LD and show how to use Google Tag Manager to get the code on your site.
3. Practical use of structured data
Module three discusses a couple of tools which can help you optimize your use of structured data. For instance, we’ll tell you how to use Google Search Console and Google Data Highlighter when implementing structured data. In addition, we’ll explain what Yoast SEO has to offer to make it easier to implement structured data.
But that’s not all. Every Yoast training comes with a special Yoast Update video. These videos are regularly updated and in them, Joost de Valk discusses recent developments in Yoast SEO, Google, WordPress and the SEO world in general. Don’t miss these invaluable updates!
On average participants spend 8 hours on the Structured data training. Depending on your current level of knowledge this might vary a bit.
