Mayada Ibrahim

After graduating from Queen Mary University of London with a BA in Comparative Literature, I worked as an editor for Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing (BQFP), a joint venture between Bloomsbury Publishing and Qatar Foundation. We were committed to publishing from the outside and the inside of established communities of writing, and putting translated literature at the heart of contemporary English literary culture.

Before joining Yoast, I was an on-boarding specialist at Moz. I was one of the first remote members of the team hired to support international Moz customers by offering consultative 1:1 walkthroughs. For my independent projects, I focused on improving our team’s communications strategy.

I’m also a freelance editor and Arabic-to-English translator. I collaborate with authors and independent publishers and aim to nurture emerging writers by helping them improve their craft.

As for personal interests, I try to travel as much as I can. This year I traveled to Central America, I spent a fair amount of time in Mexico and Guatemala. Prior to this, I was in Southeast Asia and my last stop was in Cambodia where I volunteered in a literary festival called the Kampot Readers and Writers Festival 2017. We hosted Man Booker Prize-winning writer Madeleine Thien (Do Not Say We Have Nothing), and Jung Chang (Wild Swans). I was the programmer and producer for the festival’s literary and cultural events.
