Technorati Authority Booster
I was reading a post on Sebastian's Pamphlets about increasing your Technorati Authority, which was based on an another blog post.
The idea is simple: compile a list of blogs that link to you, and that aren't indexed by Technorati. Then ping Technorati with all those pages. The first post wanted you to do a manual ping on all of them, which is way too much work.
Sebastian created a tool with which you can ping multiple URL's at once, making the process a lot faster. Now the next step is obvious: if you can automate pinging, all you have to do is scrape other search engines, and ping Technorati with all the content it's unaware of. That gives you a pretty big advantage.
You've guessed it: I've done that. It will be available within a few weeks. Something will be different though: this will be a for pay tool part of a kit called the Blog Marketer's Toolkit. Why? Because if everybody has this plugin, there's no advantage to the people using it anymore, which is why I will only be making it available to a limited number of people. And of course, I like to make a bit of money as well sometimes :)

That's a great plan, Joost. I love it how on the Web ideas become solutions, and how those evolve.
By the way, I had a mini spec on my ToDo-list (Web form, input: Yahoo pipes feed, processing: find main page with a feed-autodetect link for each item's URL, output: pings to Technorati and other servies) which I can dump now. I didn't plan to check the URLs against Technorati's discoveries, because I guess that they pretty much ignore redundant pings already (pings are cheap, you know, and there's no such thing as "ping spam" hehe). Due to my workload most probably I wouldn't be able to code that before the independence day or so, hence it's awesome that you'll release that earlier. Maybe you even find a way to add GoogleAlerts to the input stream.

@Sebastian: people have been known to have their IP's banned for pinging too much, so watch out there :)

Well, I am using a simpler approach to this. I have from my stats service an RSS feed with all my latest referrals. That feed has been transformed into a feedburner feed that automatically pings 8 services on updates :)

Maybe you can give the kit for free to people that help promote your robots meta plugin ;).

Interesting concept, but Technorati doesn't seem to be pinging my blogs right now for some reason :(

It'll take some time for me to compile it, but once it's done, I'll announce it here.

Hi Joost,
It's nice you've created this kind of tool.
I wonder if you could modify it to Technorati Japan sinse I'm a Japanese webmaster living in Japan.
Thank you.

Quite a good idea. Before this i was to log in to the technorati for each time , when i was to ping my blogs, but from now i will adopt these tips and tricks to avoid such a tough process.

Any word on this?

Using your idea, Joost, I've written TechnoPing which uses Google Webmaster Tools for the scraping and pings Technorati based on that. This should hold people over until someone handles scraping.
