SES Amsterdam

Today's the conference day of SES Amsterdam, the Dutch version of the internationally renowned series of search conferences. I've been actively involved in getting SES Amsterdam to happen, and have been the programming director, arranging speakers etc., so today is an exciting day!

Chaired by Henk van Ess, featuring speakers like Kevin Ryan and Anne Kennedey as keynotes, this should be a good conference. Next to that we have a lot of well known Dutch Search Marketers (and friends) like Eduard Blacquière, Wiep Knol, Peter van der Graaf, André Scholten and myself speaking.

I'm also very excited about the Site Clinic panel, which will feature Fili Wiese, Search Quality Analyst at Google, Roy Huiskes, Niels Meijssen and myself, and should be a nice session.

Danny Sullivan speaks at SES San Jose!

I'm in Hamburg for SES, which is btw, a great show, with about 350 people attending. We had a great night yesterday starting with the launch party of Timo Aden and Lennart Paulsen's new company Trakken GMBH!

During that party we didÂ a show of Webmasters on the Roof.Â Kevin Ryan of SES was in that show, and he broke the news there that Danny Sullivan is going to be speaking at SES San Jose! Now if that doesn't show you that some of the weird stuff that went around in the industry for the last months is settling down, I don't know what will!

We spoke about WordPress SEO on that show as well, and how my article on that had gotten quite a few links in the last few weeks (almost 6,000!). If you can understand German I'd recommend you to listen to it, it was a good show :)

For a new series we've started on DutchCowboys I recently interviewed Kevin Ryan. We covered some interesting topics, like the difference between the European market and the American market, the influence of the Chinese market and loads more!

SES NY 2008

So I'm in the big Apple, my first trip ever to the States, to speak at the Search Engine Strategies 2008 conference here, and it's a blast so far! I spoke yesterday on the Search Around the World - Europe session, and it was fun, getting a lot of good feedback. Today I walked around the show floor, which is massive, co-hosted Webmasters on the Roof with my good buddy Marcus, and did an interview with Daron Babin of WebmasterRadio.fm afterwards. Tonight we're going to the Vintage Tub & Bath dinner first, and the SES NY Charity party afterwards, I'll blog about it tomorrow!

SES New York: who should I meet?

So when I announced my conference schedule a while back, I didn't know for sure yet that I was going to be at SES New York, my first ever American conference. And the best part of it: I'm going as a speaker! I'll be speaking on the Search Around the World Track on monday, going over SEM in Europe and more specifically the Netherlands.

I'm very excited to be going there and already have a few meetings set up, such as meeting with Chris Winfield from 10e20, finally seeing eye to eye with Avinash, and I'll be going to the Internet Marketers of New York charity party on tuesday evening, if alone to meet up with Michael Gray. Are you coming? If so, want to meet me? Let me know in the comments!

SES @ A4UExpo: Kevin Ryan and Mike Grehan

The first session today was a session with Kevin Ryan from SES and SEW, and Mike Grehan who joined Bruce Clay earlier this year. They showed quite a few interesting charts and facts on Universal Search and how you could use that. I think thereÂ´s a huge chance for small companies and affiliates in Universal Search, as it will take most big companies quite some time to leverage it for their own direct traffic.

I never saw Kevin Ryan speak before, and he was actually quite funny, making jokes about the Pound to Dollars conversion rate, which really is a pain at the moment if you're earning dollars with some of your sites, like I am.
