I’ve been here at SMX for the last few days and I’ve not been as prolific as I was last week at A4UExpo, mostly due to the fact that I’m actually talking to a lot of people and talking about loads and loads of nice stuff. Some highlights:
- Yesterday morning, the session on what’s new with the algorithm with Rand, Mikkel deMib and myself, was really great, some nice discussion about paid links and PageRank (sigh…), and loads of other nice stuff.
- Last night, eating with Mikkel, Mel Carson and lots of other nice people, and after that drinking a lot with these guys and the great guys from Nordic eMarketing who were singing some nice Icelandic songs as well.
- Today: two sessions which I spoke on, which both were very nice, though the Scandinavians don’t ask a lot of questions… Seriously: if you go to a conference, ask questions, discuss, that way you can learn loads more!
- Lunch, in which I had some great discussion with a few folks, including Shane Whaley from booking.com, which was really good!
- A discussion with Adam Lasnik from Google, how we should get clients who’ve been doing black- greyhat stuff back into the index when they really want to go clean and came to us to do that.
In other words: great fun!

Pleasure to meet you my friend! See you at SMX London? I know plenty of bars…..
Interesting, we’ve had a ton of questions at Web Analytics Wednesdays in Stockholm. I think you need to know how to work the Scandinavian crowd. Not been an issue for WAW. :)
MelC: it sure has been good meeting you! Unfortunately I won´t be able to get to London, but we´ll meet again soon without any doubt :)
Lars: could be that they were just afraid I’d bite them of course ;)
Hey Joost,
Glad I had a chance to meet you and chat philosophically with you and reform and redemption ;-). It’s something we’ve chatted about internally to be sure, but you’ve spurred me to bring up the topic again.
Hope you enjoyed SMX Stockholm as much as I did, and see you ’round!
Adam: I’ll sure be seeing you around, and remember that I’ve actually studied quite a bit about redemption and reform :). I’m very curious as to how you will pick it up :)
Joost, you’re missing a w on deMib’s link :) And we all know he can use all the backlinks he can get.
Now, back to seeing how we can beat KLM’s rankings here in Norway, hehehe.
Hey Sam, thx, fixed it :) good luck trying ;)
Ah well, the number two spot behind you guys and in front of kilroy isn’t so bad either :)

Agreed, and there’s quite a few things to be said about that Kilroy optimization too… :)
About that number two spot, the search phrase has a spelling mistake, so I doubt most users search exactly like that. With the right spelling, x-plore.no is number four (but that’s not bad either).

Hmm, so it is. Argh, maybe I’ll just have to change that h1 then after all :)
