How to check your image search stats and keywords

A few people have been asking how to check their image search stats and which keywords were used, after they’ve applied my Google Analytics image search “hack” or when they’re using the Google Analytics WordPress plugin. So, instead of typing this in each email, here’s a small howto.

Go to Google Analytics Traffic Sources -> Search Engines in the menu:

Traffic Sources - Search Engines - menu

On the right side you should see a graph with all the clicks you got from search engines over the period you have selected. Below that is a list of the top 10, and a filter box. Type images. into this box like this:

Images Google filter

And press go. You should then get something like this:

image search stats: Search Engine clicks

Clicking on each engine will give you the overview of keywords used in that engine. You could create a new filter for your site to be able to see all the image seach keywords in one overview under keywords.
