Yesterday I gave a presentation about Content Marketing & SEO at the Fusion Marketing Experience conference in Brussels. It was more of a high level presentation than the technical kind of presentation some of you might be used too, but I thought it would still be worth while to share here. Also, below that, some interviews I did while at the show.
Bas van den Beld interview Olivier Branchard, aka The Brand Builder, and myself on Search & Social:
And Chris Tompkins from Go Media interviewed me as well:

Nice slide show but 1 question “Insert Ipad joke” tell us what is the joke? :)
Well.. Stone tablets, iPads, we’ve come full circle ;)
Yoast, thank you for posting this presentation. I think it’s really valuable food for thought and it’s a good idea to wander away from the tech side of things every now and then.
Fantastic common sense presentation Joost. Love it. I’ll be referring folks to this one.
I absolutely cannot stand going to a website (especially for a product or company) and getting no real answers. You hit the nail on the head, which isn’t surprising.
Joost – I’m a huge fan of yours!! Excellent Presentation – puts an awesome spin on the traditional “Content Marketing” Presentation. Regards!
Nice presentation, I got to say. Thanks for the cheesiest picture of Larry and Sergey, too! I do agree with you about the predominance of content vs. search engine tricks for good SEO. If the only thought born in my head after clicking on the first Google link is “Why am I reading this marketing mambo-jumbo?”, the “Back” button is soon to follow.
What a good presentation – nice to see the 4 P’s of marketing remembered! There is a 5th P too…. People! – People delivering content (product/services/information) who understand it and believe in it (have genuiness and authenticity) – and for People in the way they want it.
Here’s yet another comment praising your excellent presentation Joost. For an 85 page slideshow that went by pretty quick. I wish more companies would take your ‘don’t turn your website into a glossy brochure’ advice seriously.
Also, I bust out laughing at slide #29.
That slideshow was really cool. How long does it take to produce something like that.I am in the process of recording a video of me so my readers can get a better glimpse of who I am.
I really enjoyed the slide show Mr. de Valk. I have only been doing SEO for a few months now, but this is the first time I had it so beautifully explained to me. Really wish I could have attended the conference in Brussels. Love the iPad joke! LOL. Weird, though, isn’t it? Maybe Moses really had two iPads :-P
Off topic questions. I’m looking for a plugin which allows my readers to share pages with their Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook contacts AND offers the possibility to shows who else shared the page (often displayed with a counter).
If you have a suggestion that can do both, please let me know. There are so many plugins like these… maybe I have to original versions of twitter, facebook, etc.
Please let me know.
