After having a drop last saturday due to issues with Google FeedFetcher, the reader count in the chicklet by FeedBurner has once again dropped hugely (I'm seeing 25-40% drops). As the FeedBurner backend hasn't updated yet there's no way to know what's causing it, but it's not a good thing if such a thing happens twice a week...
The pic below with the feed stats for this blog will update once the "new" data is pushed to the API:
It's FeedFetcher's fault... Again...
Compare the stats for the day before yesterday:

To yesterday's stats:

FeedFetcher isn't in there...

Last Saturday the Feedburner numbers dropped because Google Reader did not provide their user numbers. Seeing the size of the current drop it appears to be of again the same size. So maybe it is more a Google (Reader) problem than a Feedburner problem?
As I said, it's a FeedFether issue :)
In the past it used to be bloglines which showed this erratic behaviour. Now it is up to the Google Feed fetcher.
Vanessa Fox did a nice write up on this subject (she even links to this post) and goes into detail about FeedBurner and what you can do with it:

Great to see this post, I was realy believing my readers didn't like the fact I didn't post for a couple of days. Happy to hear it's 'just' a FeedBurner fault.
@Paul: hehe don't underestimate yourself :) btw, you should come by Onetomarket for a drink somewhere in the coming few weeks :)
