Henk van Ess recently asked me to help him in developing an idea he had called “Cave Your Trolls“. The idea is that troll commenters are “caved”, meaning they can only see their comment themselves, and no-one else can. They think their comment is left there and rejoice, but no one else has to bother with them. I thought the idea was nice, and tonight I finished the first version of the WordPress plugin that allows this.
We’re testing it now, and I’ll update this post once it becomes downloadable!

I rather prefer to erase the troll so that the author gets a strong signal that his comments aren’t welcome. When people start to use this plugin everywhere you can’t be sure whether people can read your comment or not.
En what if the troll commenter uses an other pc? Is it all cookie based?

I think this is hilarious…very clever and am a huge fan of the methodology. Why fight someone when you can alter their reality to let them believe whatever they want.
This was brought up back when igorthetroll was bombarding mattcutts site….i think its a great idea..
