A del.icio.us linkstructure!

del.icio.us is showing us right now what the power of an authoritative domain, together with internal linkjuice can do to your site. More and more, I see del.icio.us ranking for pretty cool queries with their "url" pages.

For example, see these results for [iphone css3]: iPhone CSS3

The title of that page is pretty bad of course, but its got a nice set of links from within the site, almost all of them with good anchor text. Is this a good result though? I don't think so. The first result is actually the del.icio.us page for result #3, John Allsopp's westciv.com CSS3 Iphone Tests.

The del.icio.us page purely outranks it on internal link juice, and because it links to westciv.com with a nofollow. Google is doing a pretty bad job here though, because they're not using the del.icio.us data. Yahoo! seems to be doing a better job:

iphone css3 on yahoo

Live too has westciv.com as #1. Personally, I think Google would be better of if they decided not to rank any del.icio.us/url/ results, and instead focussed on trying to use that data, even though it's not their own (but they can spider it...), to rank pages better.
